Dynaudio for the car

I was going to post this in the car audio section, but decided to post here instead. I just saw a commercial for the new Volkswagen Passat and they said something about a new 8 or 10 speaker Dynaudio stereo system. Did I hear correctly? It is the same Dynaudio that we all know? I'm a Volks fan and this sytem would definetly intice me to look at the new Passat over a Jetta or Gti. Just wondering if anyone knew or better yet has heard it.

Same stuff, good stuff too.Check your lips at the door woman. Shake your hips like battleships. Yeah, all the white girls trip when I sing at Sunday service.

I hadn't heard about this, but Dyn is Dyn. They have been doing the car audio thing for a while, but doing it very well.
I wouldn't get too giddy about the SQ of the system though... companies are given very little money to make a great sounding system... and anyone who has listened to some upgraded stock systems know that many of them are bad. Yes, there are some pretty good ones (Harman's premium system in 5-series Beemers), but the majority of them are not worth the extra money.Brian Knauss

I know what you mean...but I'm older now and just don't put the time and effort into doing a complete aftermarket system even though that's generally going to give the best bang fro the buck. I'm looking for a system (factory) that does a good job, looks nice and I can get some enjoyment out of. I had just never heard of a factory Dynaudio in the car before. I'm familiar with the Harmon system and to some extent the Mark Levinson in the Lexus (I believe). I'd certainly have to listen to it to see if it was worth it....seems they are trying to offer something different. Hopefully it will sound a step or two above the average factory system.

Yea, dyn has done car audio for quite some time and done it very well. However, I would never recommend getting the premium suck **** systems. For the price of that option, you can do to your local shop and get much better sound for the same price. Premium systems are never worth it, never. I work in a local stereo shop and Ive heard almost all of them from the RF system in a new eclipse to the mcintosh system in a couple subarus. Every single one that comes in says "its not what i thought it would be." When they leave they all say the same thing, "Wow, this was cheaper than the option and it sounds better."
Save your money, get things done right

IMO Most people who buy a cheap car/truck without the premium system do it to stay on the cheap anyways. and don't spend 1500 or more for the upgraded stereo. those who get higher end vehicles don't have much choice they come standard.. Not many people say" lemme get the **** stereo in this bimmer" i'm gonna install my own system..MY HT RIG:

The passat does come with Dyn system. It's a $1000 upgrade and is rated at 600 watts"she had the body of Venus, with arms."

But...watts = irrelevant.
I'll take my Polk Momo components with 10w over a Sony Xplod speaker with 50w any day of the week. Even on Sunday. Oh yessssss! -
