Polk, unless you just like that blaring horn in your ear.

    Listen to both, you decide.

if you're talking about quality, honestly they're dead even IMO. Both are phenominal speakers and are borderline bulletproof. Just the question is, which sounds better to YOU... not people on a Polk forum.

Always remember, it's your money, it's your music, it's your ears, it's your room. No one elses.

The sound is certainly personal preferencebut most here are obviously going to like the Polk sound more. I feel Polk has a much better build quality as well.

Amen on the build quality. Honestly anything from the rf-35 on down is about dead even with polks old R-series stuff. You have to get clear up to the RF5 or 7 to get real wood veneer, and even at that point it is not even close to the fit and finish of anything in the RTi or LSi lines.

Just as a heads up if you do choose Klipsch be sure to check them over very carefully when unboxing them. Last I saw klipsch did a rather poor job of packaging. I saw a poor customer go through 3 pairs of RF-7 before just taking a discount and living with the damage.

I've owned and unboxed many Klipsch without a problem.

Maybe our freight company was harder on them than most. I just know we have had more than our fair share of dings and dents.

uhh, I've liked my Polk Monitor 7A's since I bought 'em ca. 1978.
I like my Klipsch Cornwalls, too (made ca. 1974, bought by me in 1997).

They are very different beasts suited to different applications.

    I don't understand the question? :-)

    Klipsch:
Usually very efficient (can play very loud without alot of power behind it)
Usually pretty bright (Type of sound found at a dance club, bar, etc.)

    Polk:
Less efficient in general, some lines/speakers require decent to excellent amplification.
More of a studio sound - (although often with accented mid-bass) Can be bright to laid back depending on line chosen.

I have not heard about build quality of the Klipsch line, but I do like the build quality of the polks. Overall bright sound grates on my nerves therefore I use the Polk LSi line (fairly laid back).

I think Klipsch's speakers range from bright to Very bright from what I have heard. (I have not heard them all) The ones I have heard sound amazing for short listening sessions, but unless you have an absolutely dead acoustical room - I can't listen to them for long.

    Pre\Pro...........NAD T163 (Modded with LM4562 opamps)

I like both but prefer Klipsch.

Build quality: Polk. Klipsch can't even come close here until you go to the RF-5 or 7 like cmy mentioned.

Sound: I like my RF-35 more. Klipsch is not bright. You'll hear a lot of people complaining about them here. If they sound bright to you, check what equipment they're connected to. Speakers approaching 100db/w/m are extremely sensitive.

    Sean,
Damn, I thought I was nuts when the horns sounded smoother than the Vifa for me but you're hearing the same thing. I feel much better now lol. Can't wait to read your upcoming review.

I'm also not against the K, but I guarantee you will be adjusting your current sweet spot. The horn loaded tweeter throws ALOT of soundstage forward, which many people call "bright". I've owned about 6 different pairs of K and they were all fun, but it's not my type of speaker.
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.
