Hello everone,
I just received my rti8s and my csi5 yesterday,
they are cherry, and i have to say these things are beautifull!!!!!!!
a few days ago i had went to my local all pro sound store and was looking at some of their top of the line speakers being,
paradigm studio,
klispch refs.
and b@w 800 series
all of these speakers being towers, the prices starting at around $1.500 dollars
a pair, well i was really hoping that the quality of these speakers were close to being the same,or close to same quality,
well after pulling them out of their boxes and unwrapping them i was floored,
they were amazing!!!!BETTER than the three i had just named, except for the b@w,s,and the price should warrant the diffrence for that.
So to say for the $632.00 dollars for the rti8,s I could not be happier
if your wondering why i have not said anything about the sound, well i am still callibrating my receiver for the new gems,i am looking forward to putting them thru the gauntlet.
I will be posting again soon on that also.
And for anyone thinking of purchasing these speakers, and curios of quality,DONT BE!
PS.Sorry to be so longwinded

right now i have a velo cht-12,good sub just want some more kick in the pants!!! -
Good choice. B&W are overpriced and overrated. Paradigm is decent from what I've heard, but overrated as well, and Klipsch is, well, Klipsch. Happy listening!Current System:

I don't think paradigms are overrated...
I'm going to paradigm studio 20/40's probably after a year or so with these r series speakers. I've demo'd the Rti line and think that the Paradigms studios are better I also think that the B&W 602.5 is better than the Rti line as well. I can not say the same for the Lsi though, because I haven't done a lot of comparative listening like I have with the other brands.

klipsch and B&W have unique sounds. you probably arent the only one to like the polk RTi's better. Klipsch is a completely different animal, and I for one think B&W's are too bright, from the bookshelf to the 800 seriesLiving Room 2 Channel -

Nice choice! I honestly think that is probably the best bang for the buck speaker in the polk line. They're just so darn flexible.
Enjoy your new system!HT

OK,I believe i have got everything set up.
My room is 12by18 not the best space but it will have to do,
I have spaced my left and right speakers 6 feet apart, and my center on top of television,
my listening area is 9 feet back, and the surrounds(fxi30) are about ten feet back and eight feet high on the side walls set to bipole.
My sub is in the rear right corner, cant put in the front corner (not enough room)but i get the best bass response there anyway.
My receiver set up is all speakers set to small, crassover network is set to 80hz.
channel delay set to half foot increments,
front L and R-20.0
center 20.0
L and R surround-14.0
I set all speakers to 80db with the RS spl meter, that came out to,
left front-5.5
right front-6.5
center-2.5
rear left-3.5
rear right-3.0
sub-minus 9.5
Ok time to fire her up,popped in the incredibles,WOW the sound is seamless
the sound is not directional like it use to be,the panning affect is really smooth,it was deffinatly an enveloping sound more so than i have ever heard
on my previous systems,
and the sound coming from the csi5 was alive, the impact and volume that i am getting is somthing i am not use to.
The only other thing that concerned me was my surrounds being from a previous line, but they seem to match up well.
The only thing i feel like i am still missing is that impact of explosions and gunshots, when i watch a movie i want that impact to be there and i am just not hearing that ,i know it is the sub,i am ready for something that will rattle my gizzard,
you guys see the size of my room, give me some recommendations of which svs would not have any problem of doing so.
Well i have to say so far i am impressed
it was getting late last night so i had to shut her down, did'nt want to keep the neihbors up.
Any comments are welcome that could help improve my system,
i am not an audiophile so input is appreciated -
Welcome,
Glad you like your set up !
once you get a new sub, it will all fall into place and you'll be pickin your jaw up off the floor. -
nice setup. Dont' stress about the 'older model' surrounds. It doesn't matter unless you're anal retentive. My Fx300i's (older than your fxi30's) match up great with my new crop of rti's.

If I read and understand this right it sounds as though the above setting are not optimal. Measure from your most common sitting position to each of the speakers and then set accoridingly.
In regards to the weak sounding gun shots, you may want to try setting your towers to large. I have found that depending on a receivers bass management, that this can sometime make a major improvement.
Keep us posted on the svs. I am in need of one too.HT
