Wall mount them in your workshop or basement rumpus room for "industrial strength" durability and great sound.

    WALL MOUNT THEM!!!!
    That would be umm... interesting

Yeah, like I'm going to wall mount freakin towers that weigh like 50lbs each
They'd probably sound like **** off the floor anyways.

Well considering their total shipping weight is 40 pounds, lets assume they weigh 35...

I would wall mount them if the use required it...

I've wall mounted much heavier speakers, my surrounds weighed around 45 pounds ;)

But I had like industrial strength shelves! :D

Ooooh, they weigh only 35-40 lbs, I still wouldn't wall mount a tower. There are too many nicer speakers that were made for that purpose. The r50 is a decent speaker, don't get me wrong. They are a freakin beast of a speaker for $49 each. I just won't be mounting, go ahead and look up the dimensions if you like, 30 something inch speakers on my WALLS. And that's from someone who has HUGE speakers all over the place. :D

    Actually...

I would mount towers on the walls for surrounds in a heart beat, infact... my system when I get my own house will probally feature two sets of mounted towers (side and rear surrounds)... I love it man - you cant beat full range, large surrounds. Those small bookshelfs you can mount on the wall just do NOT compare in any way shape or form...

Give me full range towers baby! Mount them on the wall too!

Having those towers on the walls, playing them by themselves with their design...was very uncomfortable sitting in the sweet spot. Just gobs of bass. Playing Halo was hella fun though - when they drop ship came in...woo!

Anyways... its a good deal folks and you can mount them on the wall! woo hoo!

Although I wouldnt use some wimpy thing, get you a man-shelf!

The thing is Sid, is I don't even have an HT receiver, that's the reason I had to decline being the first person to demo the Surround Bar at my house. :D I don't have a problem with anyone that wants to do that, I'm just saying that I won't be anytime soon ;)

2 CHANNEL AND LOVING IT

and it would look freakin stupid in a typical living room/HT.. why do people have to re-invent the wheel, towers for surrounds. centers as mains and booksheves as centers... They make speakers for each application.... the pro's know what sounds and looks good.. :D I think these are a great deal for 50 each, i mean crazy good deal for entry towers.. and in cherry.

    Cliff,

You gotta remember we're dealing with an 18 year old(maybe 17??). When I was his age, I wouldn't have hesitated to mount towers on walls, hell for that matter I would have tried and figured out a way to mount the SDAs on the wall

That description was for the entire R series, not just the R50's. The smaller speakers have slots in the back for wall mounting, the R50's don't have that slot.

Actually, you folks under-estimate my "style" choice...

I would build the stands into the walls, what some people would use to holds flower pots, etc - would hold my towers... it would blend in with the wall... because it is the wall...

Now way I would hang that kind of shelf in my den area...are you nuts?

    LoL...

Maybe you should see what my room looks like...

    My room is 10.5x10.5x8

At that time I had one wall with the front stage, then the wall the surrounds were on had a Futon and a desk... there was no way to put the surrounds anywhere else...

If I were to do it in a larger room and focus more on aesthetics... I would just build a stand in the framing part... cover it with sheatrock - and I'd even have wires running through it, this is where I actually like bottom mounted terminals... this allows you to put Bipolar* towers into some cool setups... ;)

Man I would love to do that one day, towers all around... maybe 3 pairs of my current mains!!! :-D
