Hey guys, what do you think about using an amp rated at 350 watts/4ohms per ch with the LSi9's.
It seems to me that may be too much power but I am not sure and don't want to mess up the speakers.

Thanks

Your ear drums won't let you use all of the available power. Hook it up and enjoy.

It is extremly rare to have to powerfull of a amp hooked up to speakers, whats the difference if you don't use the power? You could have 1000 watts per channel hooked up to them and they would be fine, because you would never use the full 1000 watts. If you did you would probably be deaf, or push the speakers so hard you would blow them.

I personally use a amp rated at 600 watts per channel into 4 ohms and have never had a problem. Great clean power when I am playing soft background music, or when I am blasting the HT.

You won't have a problem. I am running a 500 watt/channel amp into my LSi7's (speakers rated at 150 watts) and it sounds great. If the soundstage starts to collapse, turn it down though.. (you will know you are pushing it by that time though - when you are sending that kind of power to your speakers - its not like it snuck up on you.... :D

Thanks guys. I wasnt sure. My adcom is only 175 watts x 5 so I will use that for the surrounds and center and the more powerful one for the two mains.
Would that be the best way to use it??

No it's an older Carver TFM-35X that has been sitting in my closet for the last 4 years that I finally decided to use.

Oh I see. Have you been pretty happy with the Adcom, LSi combo. Just asking cause I'm finally starting to look for inexpensive amps for the HT setup.

I have no complaints so far with the adcom especially for its price tag. It pumps out plenty of good sound for me.

I love my Halo gear. It is just so smooth sounding. Like many I also think it is stronger than its ratings. I would heavily recommend trying one out if you have the chance.
