Sony CA gear isnt that great. Especially the Xplod stuff... which is all Sony sells isnt it?

Sony Home Electronics stuff is iffy, the ES line is the only good HA stuff - they make some good sources and TVs...

Yeah, you got ripped off, lol. As far as Sony in the CA world, it's just junk. Yeah, it's regarded as high-quality (and I used to think that, too), but it's really not. Just attractive-looking, unreliable, poor performing junk - that's not even cheap!

In the HA world, I'll personally avoid them forever more, but the ES line is of decent to good quality.

And yeah, I'm sure they over rate their subs. I know they WAY over rate their HA stuff, so I'd be surprised if they didn't do likewise with their CA stuff.

Though it is a generalization and there are always exceptions to generalizations, I say stay away from Sony.

Bose is also considered high quality in home audio. In car audio, people think Memphis and Audiobahn are high quality. Misconceptions my friend... misconceptions.

Sony doesnt suck. Their speakers and subs are good but not great by any means. Their amps are built ok and they will occasionally make their rated power. Their head units are pretty good. Id have no problem owning one.

Still, its best to avoid Sony for anything other than computers, digital cameras and TV's.

They make the best LCD on the planet! Their new XBR LCD is breathtaking. They have one on display at my local Circuit City and it blows the Aquos, Samsung and others out of the water! The only flat panel Ive seen that looks better is the Pioneer Elite {droooool}.

MSRP is alot different than what stores charge...

Polk's MSRP is quite a bit higher than what you pay most of the time.

I know the tube is supposed to be the best picture but I really like the way some LCD and Plasmas look. Id take a Pioneer Elite or XBR LCD over any tube Ive seen. I dont know why I just like the picture better.

So I think it looks better because a magazine ad told me it did? Nah, I can tell what picture looks better to me and which doesnt. You can tell me all day long a black and white tube looks the best but a little common sense will tell me otherwise.

Besides, Im not saying ALL flat panels look better, just the XBR, Aquos and Elite. The other guys havent quite got theres perfected yet.

I'll agree that the XBR looks very nice (as well as teh new Samsung and LG sets) but I'll never say I like the Aquos. Honestly, I doubt I'd take one for free unless I could sell it. I'd rather spend money on a better one than take that one.

Yep, and if you're lucky, the pixel will just go dark. Sometimes they can be stuck on red.

Sony's car stuff used to be up there with the best. The ES line was one of those things you wanted to have cause it was so great, but could probably never afford it. Unfortunately, they said screw it to that part of the market and focused on $200 pieces of crap for head units and ugly bling bling amps and speakers. The amps do make rated power (unlike Audiobahn... but that was before they claimed to be doing CEA2006), but they're nothing great.

So you mean LCD's have a tendency to have pixels just pick a color and stay that way??? Screw that! I didnt know that!

The reason I liked LCD's over plasmas is I will be using mine for 50% Xbox'n and I keep hearing plasmas burn in like a ****.

BK- Sadly that is true. Its ashame too cause Sony could make some smoking gear if they wanted to. If they would just dump the idiotic "Xplod" crap and go back to quality. Youll never see Alpine with chrome flames or some stupid name like Xplod.
