Hey guys I have a sony ce595 SACD player. I noticed that with redbook cd's, I was getting no sound out of my subwoofer. I have it hooked up with the mulitchannel analog outputs. I then hooked up the digital out as well and now I get a much livelier sound including my sub. Does this have something to do with the encoding in my player? Can I not get a sub signal out of the analog outputs with redbook cd's? Thanks

Chris

On the player there should be the multi-channel outputs as well as stereo line level outputs and the digital output. The multichannel outputs will only output what is on the cd. So where as a sacd has speceific information for all channels a standard redbook cd does not, it only has 2 channels right and left. That is why when you use the multi outs on a redbook you dont get anything out of your sub. To get sub out of your redbook you have to use either the stereo linelevel outs or the digital out to the receiver.
