I vote for the 1.2's. The CA stuff is not vintage and you can buy it at a later time. SDA SRS 1.2 don't come around often. IMHO

Would you be able to spend 2-3 hours a day in front of the 1.2's?

I guess it's personal preference, but if I were spending 2-3 hours in a car every day, I'd have to concentrate on the car system.
    Ludicrous gibs!

If you had been thinking of getting the 1.2's grab them. They rarely show up in your backyard, so this will save you having to drive a long distance to get them in future. You can always resell them and get your money back.

Many here have driven across several state lines to get them.

Well, this is a complicated question! The fact that the 1.2 are vintage, rare, and local seem to be screaming for you to bag them. However, do you have the proper equipment to drive them and a good place to set them up? (And, how will the wife feel about it?) As Polk65 pointed out, though, you will probably always be able to get your money out of them.

It's almost as if the 1.2 are more than just a speaker; they're great speakers, and also a part of history, something unique.

However, will you spend 2-3 hours a day listening to them? Or more like 2-3 hours a week listening to them? If you really like listening to music during your commute, I would honestly recommend the car system instead, since you're spending so much time in your car. The MOMOs (or SR6500s, if you can get them) are really great, great-sounding speakers; paired with MOMO amps and a MOMO sub, you'd have one killer SQ system. You just might go out to your car to listen to music instead of your living room!!

Ulitmately, though, the decision is yours to make. There are some really big pros and cons to each side.

On a side note, while there aren't a lot of replies here yet, want me to start a thread about this with a poll? That'd make it a lot easier to see the general consensus.

    I can't help but feel your pain Beardog.....those 6500's kicked ****.....

But I'd have to say that since they're more readily available, snag the 1.2's (are they TL's?) and check out the 6500's later.

Was good to meetcha in BTI....

Aye, but is that an opportunity you want to take advantage of? You said she ain't too thrilled...so you probably wouldn't be, either! You can also turn up the volume in the car if ya want; can't always do that inside! lol

I don't remember the specifics between the 1.2 stock and the 1.2TL, but I think the tweeters in the 1.2 stock were the lesser performing/more annoying tweets, making many want to spend even more to upgrade........something to consider.

Something like this requires some clear thinking. I get away from the computer and telephone (since they are like a slot machine and easier to pull the handle). Take a short walk and do some thinking about what will happen if you buy one or the other. Write it out the pros & cons on paper if you like, that is what I did before commiting to buy 2.3tl's.

Another way to think of this is, commuting sucks and will continue to get worse. If you get the SR6500's they will help take your mind off it.

1.2's pop up every now and then, and as a wise man once said (Bruce I think), these may be the next to the last pair, but not the last pair on Earth.

Unless you really like bright sound, you will be switching to the new tweeters. You can make at least 1/2 the tweeter cost (maybe more) on epay, but that will take some time.
