I just activated the XRt-12 Polk XM tuner (so generously provided by Matt Polk and polkaudio at polkfest05) and am generally impressed. After using a portable docking tuner (sony) in both the house and car I can say it is very nice to be able to SEE the display on this one. Very nice control layout and remote also. I have it on my work system at the moment but will write a review once I listen for awhile on my home system.

THANKS MATT POLK!

    Cool...!

I have seen this unit in the stores but this is the first I've heard from a reliable source....not a salesman. ;)

I started searching ebay on Sunday. Spent about 3 hours looking at different ones. I asked Ken which ones to look at and he gave me some numbers but I forgot them. I knew I should have been writing them down. I guess I'll have to bug him about it again now. Some day I'll learn to take notes when a guru is speaking.

I also wanted to say thanks to everyone at PolkFest. I finally got around to getting the tuner setup into my theater and signed up for XM.

It is a really nice piece of equipment. Now I am just working on getting the remote control codes added as a new device to my MX-800 to make my life easier :D

Who are you....it might help those that met you :)

As a side note, I've had my Polk XM for ages and it's 100% better than the Delphi with a home kit...and I own both.
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

    Hey Polk -

Can I get the protocol info for the RS-232 port on the XRt-12?

Currently, I use the Delphi SkyFi2 in commercial operations, but have customers that would like the tuner to change channels based on a schedule (or even mute at night). I'll offer the XRt-12 if I can get these protocols so I can tie it into our telecommunications server...

(I already have the capability of converting the RS-232 to ethernet for Internet control from our servers...)

All your manual says is "for 3rd party use - don't hook it up" (paraphrased). Well, here I am - a 3rd party!

Unless you're a custom installer employed (or self employed) by a company that does custom installations, you can't have the protocol. Sorry, but those are the rules.

"...in commercial operations..." "...but have customers..."

Maybe I didn't make myself clear. We are an XM Commercial Dealer and install XM with telephone systems. I would think that qualifies as a "custom installation." And, since we do those installations for our customers, not for us, that would make me employed by a "custom installer."

Call up CS. There's a process you have to go through.

Sorry, skipped the part about being a dealer sort of person.

Got it... thanx! Now, if I can just get our distributor and Polk to do business with each other...
