    Welcome to the forum!!

Both receivers are great multichannel processors, but neither will drive RTi12s very well. The bass drivers in that big of a speaker deserve power from a separate amplifier. 200 wpc for the 12s would be just right, then the sub would be your next weakest link. Polk subs aren't anything to write home about. SVS, HSU, Outlaw and Rocket all make subs that will keep up with the rest of your gear.

    thanks, Dennis,

after reading the thread about upgrading from rti8 to 12, i might go down to the rti8 and also select a sub from another vendor do you have a recommendation?

Any of the SVS box models would blow you away! They are more $$$ to start with but if movies are going to be the main event in your media room, you gotta have a sub that will keep up with those action movie soundtracks. They are really punishing on a sub that doesn't reach low and loud enough to fill your room.

    Outlaw Audio LFM-1 or LFM-2

dennis those are great sub recs.

I also would take the Denon over the Yamaha. Don't trust Yamaha's wattage specs.

Don't trust dennon wattage specs either... I'd say get the cheapest yammie w/ pre-outs, then get yourself a real power amp when you can afford it ('cause you'll need it sooner or later).

good point. but imo Denon is a better product than Yamaha- and their wattage specs while not as accurate as say NAD, B&K, Marantz or H/K- are still much better than most.

Dennis, I have a PSW303 sub, and It's not enough. I was thiking about going with HSU VTF MK2. I mainly use my system for movies, but do want the sub to sound nice for music. If I got this sub how much better would it be than my polk sub? I have considered the SVS PB10, and HSU STF-2 subs also.

The lowest level of either brand will play lower and louder than the 303. I would sell the Polk and buy the most sub I could afford and fit into my room. Musicality will abound in any of the choices from both brands.

What size room and what speakers are you looking at using for your system?

Tossup.........................the performance is too close to call between these two. Choose the one that fits your decor best. The SVS does have different veneers and textures that are nice.

Denon or Yamaha? Screw it. Just get yourself a Harman Kardon and relieve yourself of the misery of having to decide between runnerup and 5th place. =)

Do yourself and favor and don't buy Yamaha, HK, Denon, Sony, JVC, Panasonic, Pioneer...etc

And buy something from NAD and Outlaw. Be different! Don't go mainstream! ;)

How about the new Outlaw receiver. The last one had the true wattage specs and had rave reviews. The new Outlaw should be just as good, probably a substantial improvement.

I suggest Denon or Harman Kardon and I have an HK myself and am planing on getting a second one. I recently have had clipping issues with many receivers except the high current HKs though I must admit I have not tried Denon. Customer service and tech support is just as good as Polk if not better and that is saying a lot. Their musical ability, pre outs for separates, as well as their multiple crossover/bass management (even for 5.1 analog in) are extremely useful in milking every ounce of sound from your speakers. So put them on your list - at the top.
