Hi Steve. Thanks for the heads up. I have an Adcom GCD-575 now and need to upgrade. Not much cash now due to a tube amp and pre amp on the way, so I could use a bargain. I don't know the used value though, so how much is too much for this CEC?

If you got it at $400, you'd be getting a good deal, IMO. I think it's gonna sell for far less because not many people know about CEC...it would be a great item to bid on.

I put a small feeler bid in for now, no use driving it up too soon. Thanks for the info!

Keep in mind that the seller may well know what it's worth, and therefore have the reserve set high :)

How true. I bid to my high limit and stop. I think of bidding on Ebay like making love in the sand; you don't want to stop, but you have too.

Up to $400 used? Why not just buy a new one, with a one year warranty for $429?

That's the Japanese grey market version with the Japan market 100v internal power supply. I'm not sure I'd want to run a CD player like that with a wall wart transformer. The authorized importer is selling the North American 120v version of these for $595 I believe.

I had two of the 3300's I picked up for around $400 when Audio Advisor briefly sold the gold version of them on closeout, but sold one to a friend a couple of months ago. The main attraction for me with these was the AES/EBU output for use with an external DAC.

Ed Zachary --- Stay with the US version. If you get it---DON'T lose the remote. I lost mine and had to have one sent from Japan. $47.50. Ouch.
Mutine in Canada provides support for these players, good people to deal with.

It looked good until I noticed the "Voltage Converting Transformer" included free. Thanks for the assistance.

To give you a little more info; I sent Audio Advisor an email back when they carried the CEC (about 2yrs ago), and asked how they felt it compared to the Music Hall MMF 25 which was the same price (they carried both CDP's). They preferred the CEC for articulation and "air." (Their words). Joe (of AA) said he felt it was the best CDP they carried at the time under a grand.

I run mine via the digital AES/EBU output to my Benchmark DAC. I call it my "digital turntable." ;)

    FWIW.

I like that..... I usually wait till the last few minutes of an auction and if it is still below my max, I'll go for it.

Instead of wasting that time go here:

    http://bin.vrane.com/login.htm?url=54285766861534

and register. Put in the item number and how much you want to bid, it will put your bid in with seconds left. Here is an item I bought today, a multi region dvd player so I can look at some PAL dvds a friend sent me. Look at the bid history:

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=5808231906&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWN%3AIT&rd=1

Notice there were only 8 seconds left when I bid, no way for anyone to try to outbid me. You either win it or get outbid by an automatic bid that was higher than your best price anyway. Best of all you can put your bid in days in advance and change it if you want, then they do the rest. It's free as long as you only do 1 item at a time.

Thanks for the tip ode. I'm gonna let this one go. Had to pay off the balance of a tube amp and snapped up a pair of interconnects. I broke the reserve bank.
