I assume you listen to your sub when you listen to 2 channel music?
Since you have the RTi12's I would not even bother with the sub and run your receiver 2 channel for the music you are listening to, which will disable the Bass management feature of the Harmon and give you full range on your towers.
I agree though setting the xover at 60hz for movies..thats what mine is set to and made a huge diff in sq going from 80 to 60hz -
 I like to have Sub on when playing Stereo mode,What I believe that any high end speakers needs a decent SUB......don't you think so dude?TV :>Panasonic TC-P55VT50

I agree with above. Your 12 will not pump out as much as a good or great sub. On top of this you are asking your receiver to power the bass on the 12 which may lead to a lack of mid and highs. I'd say set your mains to small, set xover to 60 or 80 and all bass to sub

I meant no offense to the suggestion of not utilizing your sub during music listening. The RTi12's are rated at approx 18hz-27khz. The power your Harmon puts out at 2 channel is 125x2. Based on the nice clean power it provides it should be able to move the RTi12's with minimal effort and provide a nice clean bass output. Obviously it will not match the output of a dedicated sub which we all know and agree upon. Generally music does not reach the low frequencies a movie does so an average crossover point of 80hz is generally sufficient. Which leads me to my next point.
Generally most people who do listen to 2 channel music do not use a sub, (purists)specially if they have nice front towers as do you. Have you perhaps tried moving the towers around in spots..or possibly moving them slightly closer to corners yet just far enough way as not to meddle with the upper range frequencies but only to enhance the lower end? This may also cure your difference between the 2 sources.
Generally moving a speaker closer to a side wall enhances the midrange and moving a speaker closer to the back wall enhances the bass. You just dont want to be equal even distances from the side and back wall as this could cause a "cancellation". Also be careful as to not put them too close as you will create a boomy sound.
Again sorry if you took any offense to my post. -
I don't think any offence was taken. By using the sub he has, it contains much more power than the receiver could ever have.
Pink, how do movies sound with the xover set at 80? If it sounds good or great then leave it there.
You would be surprised to see how much music contains low freq. by using the sub this will free up more juice for the mids and highs which in return would be cleaner and clearer. -
When I changed to 60hz from 80hz movie sounds better....my speakers set to small and Sub is on,do you think when I listen to two channel stereo I should set the front speakers large?TV :>Panasonic TC-P55VT50

Sounds like your AVR is not running the speakers to their potential. I would try and demo an amp and I bet the reverse of your current setup will be true (maybe even set it to 40hz crossover) Without the amp power to run the 12's all those woofers work against you rather than for you.

Our local dealer has two of those amps for sale @ $350.00 each. I almost bought both but one amp cuts out sometimes at lower volumes.
250 watts..... :eek:Denon #2900, Denon stereo receiver, Conrad Johnson Sonographe 120 amp, Blue Jeans cables, and Klipsch RF-7's -
With that kind of power going to them i would run them large during 2 channel.
In fact try runnning them large with the sub off and see how they sound. I would be curious myself to see what you think.Im considering getting a seperate 2 channel amp for my RTi10's just for 2 channel listening -
