Ok...dammit. Now Bryston is telling me the 7B cannot be a common ground amp (the two monoblocks). Before, I was told they could, and even read about someone who has these amps with SRS's. I ordered the new tweeters for my SRS's and the Polk tech said to check ohm's on the grounds when the amps get here, if they are zero, then you can hook up the SDA interconnect. Is there a test I can do with my meter to see if the Bryston's can both be connected to each other's ground wire, to be safe? I look forward to getting the new tweeters, as I've heard from you guys they are a beneficial upgrade. I hope they are worth the $$$$$$. The price of one tweeter isn't so bad, but the SRS guys need EIGHT of the little bastiges. Ouch. By the way, I don't have the 1.2's...these are just SRS's from the mid 80's.

For what its worth, to me, it made the difference between keeping and enjoying my SRS 2's or selling them. Some do prefer the original SL 2000 and I say good for them too. Get a listen on once you swap them out and report your preference.

Hmm, I am not sure the multimeter is of any help. Let say, you connect the -ve speaker posts and the chasis, and measure 0.0X ohm (something really lower, which it should because you explicitly connect them), but then this doesn't mean the amp is safe in doing so. Since Bryston said no, I will be hesitated to even try unless I am 100% sure someone sucessfully did that. You don't want to ruin such fine amps and speakers, right?

you would think there is a work around solution to the mono block amps. You may have to bi amp them to be able to use them.. if they can not be used as a common ground amp(s).

good luck. but be careful with what you attempt.

They are true mono blocks and not bridge mono. Horizontal bi-amp probably is not an option ....

Did they say specificly "you cannot attach the two grounds together with a wire?" That is the question you need answered.

if you had the volume down really low on your pre amp. once you fired everything up. what would happen? it would trip the poly switch? if at low volumes.. it may or may not harm the SDA's?
Since you can't really get a right or wrong answer from the amp maker. i'd proceed with caution. but it would be good to know for sure.
