Lsi 7 front, Cs1 center, Monitor30's surround? Crazy idea?

Hi all,

It is too late to return the Center and Surrounds, and I'm likely trading up to the Rti10's for the front. After extensive listening, I do feel the female vocals (Sarah Brightman) don't sound quite as smooth through the Cs1's as the Rti8's. Dang! I wish I'd found this forum BEFORE I purchased the Cs1's and monitor 30's. They did sound MUCH better than similar or more expensive offerings from Infinity, and JBL in the same setting. Oh well!

NONE of the local shops (I live near Oakland California) carry the LSi series- I've got a long drive today if I want to hear them! On the other hand, pairing LSi 9's or 7's as fronts with the Monitor 30's as surround-and Cs1 center makes no sense. Oh well, maybe I'll just sell it all and get a boombox!

Get Cs5 if possible and get Cs1 on back.

i personally use monitor 30s as rear surround for a pair of biamped rti10s the monitor 30s sound good with the rti10s. Polk timbre matches all of their speakers to sound good together. Im currently using a smaller Yamaha center but am upgrading to a csi5

The front 3 should all be timbre matched. Anything else will sound like butt.

We agree, you should sell that cs1, and pick up an LSi-C and that will give you timbre match across the front and significantly change the sound of your setup.

I'm confused...you talk of RTis, LSis, but own m30s and a CS1. Please clarify. If you want to move into RTis, then get the RTi 8s or 10s as fronts, a CSi3/5 center and leave your m30s as surrounds. If you move into LSis, then 9s,7s and a C, plus a hefty amp to do them justice is optimum. You can drive 25 miles to a Frys to listen to LSis, just don't expect to be blown away. Frys drives all their speakers on AVRs in awful rooms. Usually the RTis sound better in store. That's not the case.

I agree. I think if you do this you can leave the 30's for surround...at least until the next upgrade. That's what I have across the front and look at my sig to see what I'm using as surrounds. Not popular, but they sound fine as surrounds.
