Yet another LSI9 stand thread, sorry in advance!
Sorry to rehash an old subject once again, but after researching the archives I still haven't found a definitive answer to my question.
My question is one of dollars and cents (sense), I just purchased a pair of LSI9's to replace my LSI15's in my setup, and am now left with a tough decision in regards to supporting them. I know it has been stated time and time again that the LSI9's REQUIRE a quality stand to sound their best. I have settled on a height of 26" so that is not part of the quesiton. My question is in regards to whether the stands I already own are "good enough" or do I need to upgrade to something better.
My current stand is the distributed by Paradigm called the S-26 it is a stout dual tube stand that I have filled with lead shot to add to it's mass. I also use blue-tak to isolate/bond the LSI9's to the top plate. It's not the best looking stand in the world, but my primary concern is function. The stand is very stable especially with the shot added (almost two bags for each stand).

The stand I am considering is the Sanus Ultimate Foundation 26, which I can purchase shipped to Alaska for about $300.00. The appear to take a rather high-tech approach to isolation, but don't appear to have quite as much room for mass loading (thin tubes). On the other hand they advertise damping rings in between the base/top and tubes which sounds like a plus. I do like the cosmetics of the UF series, but not $300.00 worth, so that really doesn't factor into the decision.
Any real world experience out there that would indicate that the Sanus stand would really be a $300 upgrade from the stand I am currently using? Or any DIY'ers out their with an Idea of how I might mod my existing stand to improve on it's performance?
Thanks in advance,
Mark

In my opinion...
In a perfect world...maybe
In a real world environment...probably not
sounds like it comes down to marketing, and cosmetics.....IMO
are you unhappy with the looks and performance of what you already have ?
I don`t have enough info on the rest of your gear, or listening environment, but you may find your money better spent on upgrading your speaker cables or I/C`s...or maybe your source
To me it sounds like you have a solid pair of speaker stands already.
3oo bucks for a smaller diameter tube doesn`t sound like much of an upgrade to me..
What do you feel your current stands are lacking ?Cary SLP-98L F1 DC Pre Amp (Jag Blue)

I checked out those exact stands before I got the UF's. The quality was pretty similiar, but the UF's just seemed more stable- and I got them open box from Audio Advisor... so it was more like $180 for mine.Gallo Ref 3.1 : Bryston 4b SST : Musical fidelity CD Pre : VPI HW-19

Thought I would use this thread instead of a new one.
Does anyone use atlantis pro stands and if so how do they work with the lsi9? Can a someone tell me the weight limit on these stands? I looked on the website but found nothing.

When I was using my stands for the Paradigm Studio 40's they were welded steel and I filled them with cheap kitty litter. I dont think it matters how or what they are made of as long as they are solid and steady providing for a stable platform.Denon #2900, Denon stereo receiver, Conrad Johnson Sonographe 120 amp, Blue Jeans cables, and Klipsch RF-7's
