I finally heard my first real HDCD - I don't even remember the name of it now...
Sat down, put it in - saw that beautiful blue HDCD light come on the Onix (same color as my B&K's display)... put it in. Monsterous size voices, which is fairly normal.
The drums were somewhat more pronounced and wide spread... the wide spread part was not that desireable...
Overall depth of the soundstage didnt seem much different. The detail was not up to par with other CD's I've heard.
The side soundstage was very dissapointing compared to other songs...
Some CDs I have will have songs were 2 instruments per side, one right around the speaker, and another about 2-3 feet outside of the speaker... this one did none of that...
Overall... wasn't that impressed. I hope all HDCDs arnt like this, kind of takes away the reason to call them "Hi-Def CDs" eh?

- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit.

What CD were you listening to? The LIVE CD Secret Samahdi sounds great....I can't compare it to a regular version, (if there is one)....
