I just received the Panamax max 4400 & was wondering if it would handel 2 ATI amps both are 250 watts x5 2 1000 watt subs & a pre-amp. Im using only 8 of the channels on the 2 amps, I needed the 4400 because it handels 20 amps & the funky 20 amp plugs. thanks

I thought about picking up a Panamax or some other brand surge protector sometime. We get power spikes and the electricity goes completely off for 1-2 seconds sometimes. Maybe when I get a nicer amp or whatever the protector may save it.

Err.... NO! 250x5x2 =2500 watts, which is already over 20 amps, and assuming 100% efficiency. Each of those ATI's probably needs it's own 20amp receptacle and each sub needs a 15amp one.

That is, if you want to truly tap all the power that you've got. In real-world situations, you'd probably still need to split everything off to two 4400's

I've got 3 seperate runs to my entertainment center- one 20amp and 2X15 amps. The 9b goes on the 20amp, the 4b on the 15 and everything else on the other 15. For surge protection, I have a whole-house protecter wired into the box, then I've got hostpial grade surge protector outlets for all the entertainment center outlets (finding a 20amp one was NOT easy...) For conditioning, I didn't find any improvement with the brystons??? they're supposed to reject A/C noise very well and I'm starting to belive them, so they go straight into the wall. The rest of my gear is on a Belkin- can't remember the model #.

    No problem!

BTW- the max power consumption in watts is probably somewhere in the ATI's manual- just scale that to whatever the number of channels you're actually using. To convert to amps, just divide by 110 (or whatever the voltage is in your area).
