Look for a sub for my HT that consists of:
- HK DRP-2005
- RTA-15TL front
- RTA-11TL surrounds
- CS400 center

Saw a couple of Velodyne CT-150 from local CL. Anyone has any experience and opinion to this sub? Alternatively, I welcome other suggestion.

Thanks,

The modern equivalent is the DLS R5000 which I've been told is a very nice sub. Velos are very musical to my ears. I guess it depends on how old, what kind of shape and the price.

I asked a similar question on AVS about some CL subs. I was steered to a new Cadence.

    Good luck

    Hi Ron,

I went to the Cadence site, and it was 229 + 49.95 shipping. How did you get the price $250 shipped? Purchased from ebay?

    Thanks,

Yep, there's a guy on ebay that's reputable. They shipped directly from Cadence. Also, ubid was selling them $250 shipped last week.

FYI, I noticed a hum from the amp after the 2nd day, I contacted Cadence and they are sending me a new one, free return (I guess it pays to give good reviews). Anyway, it's a great buy for $250 shipped and holds it's own an maybe superior to < $400 competition. The CHT 150 or the new equivalent Velos are probably better subs.

I'm still evaluating many things and have been commenting over on AVS. I'd stay tuned before you pull any triggers...

    :):D;)

I have a Velo CT150. Awesome sub. Does excellent for both music and HT... if you can find it in good shape...dont pass it by.

Thanks for the reply, Ron and TrappedUnderIce.
I am in no rush to buy a sub because I am still busy tweaking my HK DRP-2005. The RTA-15TL and the Dahlquist pb-1200 are doing decent job to bump reasonable level of bass, but I can definitely use a better sub to rock the cathedral ceiling living room. The reason that I posted this thread is I found a CT-150 for $350 rom local CL. I just wasn't sure it was a good price for this particular model. I kind of guess this will be many grades better than the pb-1200 :-) I read the Cadence thread from AVS which opened my eyes to research more other than the big names like Velodyne, SVS, and Hsu.

    Thanks,

Update on the Cadence. They are sending me a new one. Nice folks and the hum was very minor. I probably could have removed the amp and fixed it.

Also, after a week it's breaking in nicely and coming alive. Initially, I thought the Velo was more musical, but I'm getting very impressed with what I'm hearing now. :)
