speaker wires
Hi all, could someone please suggest some good speaker wires I can buy online? Is there something special I should look for or will any speaker wirei do?
I'm looking to run about 25 ft. to rti4's and about 5 ft. to my rti8's and csi3.
Prefer something white. Thanks

I like blue jeans cable. You can get their 12 white (12 guage speaker cable - in wall rated) for about .39 / foot cut to any length you need.
I purchased their 10white (10 guage) and am very happy with it. It is not very flexible though.
Many people have ordered sound king speaker cable from parts express and have been happy with that as well.

Michael, thanks. I guess I will go with the 10 or 12 gauge. I haven't acutally received the speakers yet, but would you happen to know what kind of connector (banana, spades, etc.) I would need or would work best for these speakers? Thanks again. -
Hello DC106,
I use a speaker cable from Best Buy called Acoustic Research. It is a 12g clear cable, that is very flexible. The gold plated banana plugs came from Radio Shack for $6 a pair. A 30 ft spool of the AR cable is $29.99 in store. The sound became more detailed and a lot cleaner than with the 16g Monster cable that I used prior to this upgrade.

I would wait till you get the speakers to get spade connectors. (or check with someone on here who has the speakers and can tell you what size to get) with my LSi speakers, even the wide spade connectors were not wide enough to go around the speaker post. Based on that, I would get banana connectors. Also order (or purchase) enough wire to replace the metal bi-wire bracket with actual speaker cable. An extra foot of speaker wire should be enough for 1 or 2 speakers.
Of course, you could just get the speakers, get the wire and use the stripped end of the wire. You do not have to use spade or banana connectors, you could just strip the wire, put it in the hole at the bottom of the speaker post, and clamp it down. This would give you about the best connection, it can make moving things around a pain in the butt though.

I have the RTi series speakers, and the Radio Shack banana plugs fit perfectly. As far as the wire jumpers go, I made them with leftover wire and some Radio Shack spades and banana plugs as well.
