It's a decent recording, with a couple usefultracks. I agree with Toxis, it just didn't "feel" right, but that's coming from somone that grew up on this genre.

I think the Black Crowes/Jimmy Page Live cut had alot more life than C/P.
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

Considering what Jimmy had done up to this point in his career post Zep I'd say it was a better than average effort. Never did like David Coverversion...er... Coverdale, but he sure nailed the Zep sound on the cd. There is a bootleg of other demos, as originally they were obligated to do 2 albums for Geffen records. I have the bootleg somewhere around here with the rest of the demos. I haven't listened to it in awhile but I remember a few other songs that were worthy as well. I believe the song "Saccharine" which Jimmy played as an instrumental for the "Net aid" concert came from these sessions.

I have a 1/2 dozen or so bootlegs of them live in Japan and Coverdale is an **** to put it mildly. He's constantly swears and not the kind of cool swearing. It's very out of place and he's just about as obnoxious as David Lee Roth is these days. The playing and singing are good though. The tour basically fizzled out after Japan and the subsequent US tour was cancelled as well as the 2nd album effort. Of course, this is when Robert finally decided to give it a go and do the UnPlugged thing and so on......Many say he was so pissed at Pagey for collaborating w/Coverdale that's why he decided to get together w/Pagey again all on Robert's TERMS of course.

Just thought I'd add during the 1995 Page & Plant Tour they perfomed solo songs from both Page & Plant. I'm listening to the show(s) I attended right now and "Shake My Tree" sounds pretty good with Robert singing. Some of the songs hold up quite well....although Jimmy is using that "Transperformance DTS" gizmo he had installed on a couple of Gibson's a few years prior. It's that automatic digital tuning device. It can be programmed and has a series of buttons he pushes (each button is set to a specific tuning) and it changes tunnings on the fly. He uses this in conjuction with the theramin device and it sounds pretty cool. I believe they also do "Pride & Joy" at times. They do "Calling To To you" from Robert's "Fate of Nations" cd as well.

On the 2nd tour in 1998 I don't believe they did any solo stuff. Maybe snippets in songs, but they had all those songs from "Walking Into Clarksdale" to do.

Can I resurrect this thread just to note that I hate when a performer whom you respect does some godawful crap that makes you want to crawl into a hole and question your whole appreciation of that artist? And when TWO of them do it, together no less, it makes it even doubly worse and doubly embarrassing?

Why didn't they call me first and ask if this would be okay? (I would have said no. Jimmy, you need to dry out and come to grips once and for all with the fact that your talent vanished in 1980 with Bonham's last breath, thank you Satan. And Dave, just stick to the 'Snake, eh? Cheers!)

Knock Coverdale all you like, but he's a tremendous talent with a superb and classic voice. Comparisions to Plant have always -- to me -- been specious. I mean, Coverdale is a deep blues rumbler. Plant is a screamer. (I use the word "is" in these sentences in a hopeful, denial-of-reality way; what I really mean is "was.") Moot point, tho, because I'm like the last great WhiteSnake fan left. More for me!

I got Coverdale's signature on my CD of this crapola, tho. That's cool.
