i have 2 pioneer 1000 watt a piece subwoofers, and a jensen 400 watt 4 channel amp, im looking for a new amp, they have a sony one for sale but someone told me that the xplode amps dont give you all your watts.I had 2 lightning audio subs, but i just got the pioneers they hit hard, but because i dont have enough watts going to them my amp cuts off on me :S . and what is with solid plastic on the subs? most subs i have seen are a fabric kind of cone, but mine is all plastic. does it make them hit harder or something ( im new to subwoofers if you havent noticed LOL).

I think most subs have the cap made of the same material as the cone. What is the RMS rating of your subs? What are their models #'s? What is their impedance? That 1000 watts may just be peak power, which is not what you want to use when determining an amp to get for them. Also how much money do you want to spend on the amp?

Your amp should not be cutting off at all, unless there is something wrong with it, or your gains are turned up to high (which will then cause it to heat up and shut down).

    Agreed ^

Those are most likely 400 watt subs and your amp is most likely cutting off because of improper gain settings or youve got it wired wrong.

That being said, that Sony would come close to making its rated power but I wouldnt bet on much passed that. If youre looking to spend only $300-400 its going to be tough to find a brand new, quality 800 watt amp from an authorized dealer for that.

However, this MTX801D would be a great choice. Its on clearance now at Sounddomain for $270 which is unheard of. Its extremely well built and far exceeds its rated power. Highly recommended.

Yeah, MTX probably came across another bunch of em they didnt know they had. They could sell them on their factory direct site cause youd think it would be cheaper that way but their factory direct site is twice as expensive as a retail store!

I thought that was kind of weird that it would be more expensive on there. Cardomain's price was a great bargain so I went with them for the 801D. Nice amp, very happy with it, and I am still not running it at full power. My sub is a 4ohm sub and SVC.

Right now I am debating wether or not to go with the Pioneer DEH-P8600MP. It is a very nice HU especially for the price ($349). I filled their form out for the 105% price match guarantee thing and I am waiting to hear back from them. If they drop it to the lower price I will scoop one up. I really like my Eclipse HU, but I want to give the 8600 a shot. It has 24 bit Burr Brown DAC's as well as the BBE processor (it has many of the other features that my current HU has too). I really like the way the BBE makes music sound. If I like it I may put the Pioneer in the Maxima and the Eclipse in the Civic.

Here is a link to the HU:

mitek factory outlet used to be great for getting stuff cheap - now its more like "factory direct new stuff" rather than "2 year old models at bargain basement prices" which kind of bothers the hell out of me.

    anyhow...

    i got 81000d's for 325-ish each -- so if you think 800 watts at 14.4 v for 270 is good, try 1500 watts at 14.4 for 325... ****.

i am the watt master, all bow to me.

.... pioneer has bbe now ???? damn. thats actually pretty sweet.
