Ok trying to lighten up a bit here in the clubhouse. What are your plans for this upcoming weekend?

We have our annual On The WaterFront music/food festival on the banks of the Rock River in Downtown Rockford. I'll be enjoying this and hanging out w/ friends and family. I'll also be giving thanks that I'm able to do this and enjoy this. Unlike many of the residents of the devastated region in the Gulf coast area.

Here's the linky if you are interested

Cool I just looked at the link. Deep Purple, Mountain, And Reo. Should be a blast.

4 days off and doing nothing. Maybe go to Disneyland for a bit...maybe. Other than that, just kick back and spend some time with the family.

Noel, I updated the link to take you specifcally to the OTW page. You clicked 'stars & guitars' which was earlier this summer. Look again you'll see Cheap Trick (hometown boys) and Alice Cooper opening the festivities tonight.....plus what's on tap for the rest of the weekend, if you're interested.

I promise after this weekend I'm going to get at that LZ project I've been so lame about lately. Burn it...they will come :D

like last year. i'm visiting a friend on the other side of the state. he lives on a canal with fresh oysters and crabs. so we'll do that one day.. then he also plans on cooking a prime rib the following day.. then on labor day. the traditional burgers, brats and beer.
the booze will be flowing freely for 3 or 4 days at least. i don't have to be back to work till next Thurs. Yippee!

I just scored back stage passes to tonights Cheap Trick & Alice Cooper concert which opens up our On The Waterfront Festival. No biggie....but cool none the less. I've seen CT about 100 times but it'll be nice to be back stage. When I see them around town they are always in a hurry and don't take to much time to talk. My cousin and my best friend rent store space. In the back part of the building Rick Nielsen's wife has a clothing boutique. So I was pretty sure we would score some passes....nothing like waiting to the last minute. Concert starts in an hour. Gotta go

Saturday, probably sleeping... possibly doing some computer work for a local audiologist.

Sunday, sleeping some more, stuff around the house... Had planned to go to Lancaster, but with gas prices as they are, and the non-necessity of the trip, that's been cut out.

Monday, you guessed it, sleep.. stuff around the house, cookout over at my bro's place.

Fri. night - Big Head Todd and the Monsters in concert
Sat. Sun. Mon. mornings - Annual Club Championship golf tourney
Sat Afternoon - watch the Vols on TV (way too hot to spend the day with 108,000 people in one stadium)
Sun. Afternoon - chillin by the pool in the backyard with the family
Monday night - BOOMSDAY! one of the largest Labor Day fireworks show in the US with 200,000 + in attendance

I NEED this weekend. It has been a long time since something has affected me as bad as the toll in the gulf states. I have spent a lot of time in Gulfport, Bay St. Louis, Biloxi, Pascagoula and the pictures of places where I have been that are now destroyed are terrible. It pains me to see the suffering of humans as well as the depths tha some of the human race have sunk to. I've worried about the economy and our country. And how it will affect all of us in the future (not so much me but my kids). I've worried about my brother in law in Iraq and all of the other soldiers over the world in harms way.

Compared to the problems of many in the trail of the hurricane...I have nothing to **** about. I KNOW THAT FOR A FACT! There is little I can do to affect any of the issues that have stressed me out (and I rarely worry about anything - worry and stress are a wasted emotions IMO). I have sent money to the Red Cross (and will give more through my church), I have volunteered to take vacation and go to the area if needed (unlikely), I have prayed. I will do whatever I can.

This weekend I am going to drive as little as possible and do lots of fun stuff. It sounds crass that I feel I need to do fun stuff to take my mind off the troubles of others. But I have done all I can do for now...and it will all still be here on Tuesday.

PS: sorry if I took a thread intended to be light and brought it down.
