I just don't like someone dismissing me or the rest of you guys and gals as a bunch of ignorant morons that know nothing about how our nation's economics is all. I would hope that any of you would stand up for me as well."SOME PEOPLE CALL ME MAURICE,

Ron-P wrote:Of course we would Noel, I was just joking around a bit, trying to lighten the mood around here. This forum and others are being dominated by Katrina threads and it's getting a bit depressing, rightly so, but let's not start anymore threads on this. Did Fats need his own thread, no. Do we need 2 threads about gas, no.
You're very right. We do need to lighten up a bit. All of the bickering about differences of opinions is not doing the poor souls in La, Ms, Al, and Fl any good at all."SOME PEOPLE CALL ME MAURICE,

I disagree with you greatly. A discussion must be had about what to do next. That's the only way to get anything done. There's nothing unhealthy about discussing the future of New Orleans.
The damage has already been done to the people affected by this disaster and all we can do to remedy that now is give everything we can to them to help them through this.
The next step for this country, as a whole, is to decide what the best way to deal with the mess is.
There's no sense in turning the disaster on it's ear and pretending there aren't tough questions to ask and tough decisons to make. This is a big deal for America as a whole. -

I'm not talking about "discussions", I'm talking about all the senseless bickering and name calling that has been going on here for the last few days between so-called buddies. A healthy discussion is fine, but to start name calling and such is doing noone any good at all. And by no means am I a liberal, so you can't go there with me."SOME PEOPLE CALL ME MAURICE,

Whether you are or aren't is besides the point. When people start talking politics it gets personal. Which is why it isn't allowed here. Unfortunately I haven't learned how to ignore stuff like that. I take it that seriously. Politics and the course of my country are greater than Club Polk and people making off the cuff attacks on my President. Being that this is recognized is why they banned the talk of politics.
This disaster has nothing to do with politics, but then again that's been my assertion all along as abrasively as I conveyed that message.
My apologies. Can't help myself. -
I have yet to bring politics into the fray. And yes, the disaster is far larger than CP and I really don't know of anyone that would disagree with that. We agree on most issues and I just think that there is alot of misinterpretations occuring here by alot of us about where people stand on some of the issues at hand. I don't like the W bashing either, but I'm not going to sink to that level of ignorance to rebut them."SOME PEOPLE CALL ME MAURICE,
