Watched this last night. Good movie. It is/was being billed as being from the minds that brough us "Snatch" and "Lock Stock and 2 Smoking Barrels"...but that isn't entirely accurate. The Producer of those two films (two of my favorites) tried his hand at directing this time (instead of having Guy Ritchie at the helm). It is also billed as being "Hilarious". Not accurate either.

That said, it is still a good English gangster movie. The director (Mathew Vaughn) doesn't have Guy Ritchie's great camera movements and editing skills and the movie lacks Ritchie's genuinely hilarious screenwriting...but it is tough and gritty and has a bunch of good twists. Good performances all around too.

Don't go in expecting "Lock Stock III" (like I did) but it is definitely worth a watch.

    Cool!!!!

I love the Ritchie films, alot. If this is just half as good, it should be a winner. Thanks for the heads up.

Oh and is this in theaters or out on video?

It's on video, just watched it the other night and I'd say Woody's review hit the nail on the head.

Yep, it is probably about half as good. Which means it is still pretty good.

Oh and the gunshots will have you leaping off the couch in a few places. Enjoy!

The transfer is a step above mediocre. Definitely not the worst looking title I own but nothing to write home about. The movie however is highly entertaining and well worth a watch. woodyjacobs is right on his thoughts. Not as good as Lock Stock and Snatch but still great. The twists are quite clever as well. :D

hummm, I've read quite the opposite in regards to the PQ, that it's most impressive, plus it's got an UPCM track, should sound fantastic.

Huh... I just read a review on HighDefDigest.com and that is their take on it as well. I'll have to sit down and watch the whole thing. After I bought it I just sort of skimmed through it to check it out since I had seen it so many times prior. :o

Nonetheless, I am sure you will enjoy it.

Here are a couple pictures I took of it playing when I first got it. I guess I was spoiled by other titles with a more vibrant color palette.

The comments I've been reading are on other forums, but I have yet to spin it. The colors though, that's all director intended and has nothing to do with the actual quality of the transfer.

I don't remember too much about the movie, but I remember really liking it. I was excited for Craig to be the new Bond at the time. I watched it before Casino Royale.

I just finished this and the PQ is top notch, excellent. Ranks right up there with the best of them and that UPCM track, outstanding.

As for the film itself, fantastic.

I liked this one. Great action. The end got me though. I didn't see that one coming.
