If you are using seperate amps, and your AVR is just being used as a pre/pro...
does it matter which one you use ie;yammie, dennon etc. ?
it`s the amps that make the difference right..
I won`t hear/notice much difference betwen the yammie and the dennon...right ?

Actually, while a better amp will give you smoother sound, more details, and better bass, this is due to giving the speaker more juice. An amp is just power. It is the preamp that has the most effect on the character of the sound, so the difference between Denon, Yahama and Pioneer Elite is still very noticeable even when a separate amp is thrown into the mix.
For example, it has often been stated that Krell gear tends to be on the bright side for music, although for movies it is probably some of the best gear available. However, a Krell monoblock amp is simply sheer power, which could realistically be used with any preamp/speaker system without causing brightness. It is the preamp that processes the sound and may tend toward brightness, although this can be tamed or minimized if using analog connectors for music playback.Current System:

Put another way, all the small crappy sounds you currently don't notice become louder and much more annoying. An excellent pre-pro is necessary to get beyond a particular level. Of the two you mention one may sound better than the other but it's a crapshoot.
madmaxVinyl, the final frontier...
Avantgarde horns, 300b tubes, thats the kinda crap I want...
