He's in Luling LA, I'm holding a pair of Spendors to ship to him, can't reach him (obviously) on his cell or email.

The star is where Paul lives, I hope he's doing ok. Anyone heard from Darquenight and our other polkies in the region?

Yeah, I'm holding his $2500 speakers and $500 stands until I hear from him. I hope this all pans out in record time.

I took $200 out of the ATM today, I'm headed to the bulk-store tomorrow and fill the bed of my truck with as much canned goods and water as it will hold, and drop it off at the Salvation Army disaster center they setup today locally to haul into the disaster areas.

    Cheers,
    Russ

Russ, are you accepting funding from other members here to help your cause? I'd like to offer something here to help ya fill that truck bed.

Also, the Salvation Army is a great organization. They do a lot of "behind the scene" charity work.

Do I need to start a thread? I can and will do it. The deal that I heard today is they don't need money, they need GOODS.

I can call mama Gates and get the Tahoe involved too if need be.

    Cheers,
    Russ

Just got a voicemail from Paul.

He's fine, so is his family, so is his house. The message was breaking up a bit, I think they are staying in Baton Rouge. Paul, if you read this, the Spendors are safe and sound and will remain here until you give me the go ahead.

    Cheers,
    Russ

Just got an email from Paul....

Power and internet are UP at his house, but his cell is still on the fritz - obviously Cingular has some towers that are still tango-uniform.

He and his family are ok - looks like they're one of the few lucky ones.

    Cheers,
    Russ

    Good to hear.

BTW after a Hurricane Cell service can suck at best, so in crisis I would never rely on cell service. After living though 3 Hurricanes last year I'm saying that with some knowledge ;)

Thanks guys for all the concern and prayers. We evacuated north of Baton Rouge the Sunday morning that Katrina hit. St. Charles Parish, where I live in Luling fared well because we were just to the west of the eyewall. My house took 90 - 100 mph sustained winds with higher gusts. Not a scratch on the house which is amazing and no flooding. My neighbors lost some wooden fences, chimneys, etc. and some didn't even board up the windows which didn't even shatter to my surprise.

I still don't have land phone or cell phone so communications has been a problem. I got power and internet service just a couple of days ago. Life without electricity or air conditioning was a inconvenience but I consider myself very lucky compared to most.

Things are slowly starting to get to normal around here. I went to work last week, the garbage trucks picked up trash yesterday, and I even saw the mailman going by this morning. Still have to wait 15 minutes or so in line to get groceries as they are only allowing a few in at a time. Oh yeah, no looting in my neighborhood either.

What a two weeks this has been! I have a lot of catching up to do.

    Paul
