I am building my new sysytem. I just recv'd a new Onkyo 797 and I have old school monitor 10b fronts. I am hearing layers of sounds that I haven't heard before>>>WOW!..I want this this system to really shine in both home theatre as well as music. I was thinking about moving my m10's downstairs and replace them with rti's at some point..I don't have surround rears yet or a sub.I want my center channel to to have a full bright realistic sound--light but with a punch.
I have read a lot about the cs400i..Any thoughts?

Having yet to see, let alone listen to a new 40, I can't tell you anything about it. I can tell you that the 400i is a great speaker. I have one paired with a set of 800i front's, 300i surround's, and a PSW350. The 400i is a very clean sounding speaker. You never have to struggle with hearing movie dialogue and so far, it has been able to handle anything I've thrown at it. Give a listen to both of them, then decide what sounds best to you. You'll probably be able to find a good deal on a 400, and the rt line of floor standing fronts now. Good luck!

the cs400i is an amazing speaker for the $. it's the speaker that brought me to polk when i wanted to upgrade my HT. between the cs400i and the csi40, i couldn't tell you, never heard the 40. the rti and the lsi are at different levels, and different price ranges as well. if you are looking to get rti front's, i would suggest going with the 400i, but if you may want to go with the lsi line, give both lines a listen and see what you prefer, and how much you want to pay for that performance...

I bought the 400i last week (a demo model for $250 from CC)...I can't get over how much brighter and sharper it sounds than my old Advent center. Just resign yourself to the fact that you will have to probably buy new mains and surrounds...the 400i is so much more efficient than my old Advent towers and surrounds that it just drowns them out...I have to cut back the sound coming out of the center about 30% just to try to balance things out. I am probably going to go buy a pair of RT800is tomorrow.
