What benefits if any

I currently have my bass through the sub pre-out. My receiver has a fixed cross over at 90 (last year yammy). I was thinking of going the speaker line out instead. Setting my fronts to large and sub to none. Would this allow me to obtain a better sound. ( I am not looking for "try it and find out" answers)
I know my 8's can handle more than 90 and above. I would like to know who else uses this method and what they have gained from it.
Thanks

Why would this happen ?

Because now instead of trying to reproduce frequencies from 90hz up to the tweeter x-over point, they are trying to produce the lower octaves as well, and in turn, there is more drain on your receiver/amp trying to reproduce the lower frequencies, so it gets muddy. It may sound 'louder' but you lose clarity in the process. -
Thanks PT. Makes complete sense
