Hi all. I'm about to pull the trigger on the following setup:

Front: Rti8
Center: Csi3 or 5
Rear: Rti4

(speaker feedback welcome :) )

Once the prices come down I would like to buy an HDMI A/V receiver but for now, I just want to get something under $200 that will run my speakers well. I don't need much, just a couple of components in and one out. It can even be last years model. I've heard good things about Polk's running off Denon's & HK's so I would prefer to buy one of those models.

Any suggestions? Many thanks in advance.

Welcome to the forum. First things first- You need to Save up. $200 won't buy you anything close to what those speakers are capable of and will not allow you a path to upgradability (you would have to start from scratch again and in essence spend even more money in the long run)

Try this. The Harman Kardon avr235. $500 everywhere else, $350 at J&R (a certified Harman Kardon dealer)

7.1, Dolby Prologic II-X, OSD, Component Ins/Outs, Logic7-(a gift from God), 7.1 inputs (for SACD or DVD AUDIO) 7.1 pre-outs (for external amps) and a kickass amp section in it's own right; with the most current and best power supply in its class.

imo you can't buy a better receiver for the money. Take the 50watts X7 for what it's worth. But i'm telling you Harman's 50 watts are superior to anyone else's 100 watts. I did the 30day return policy for a Denon 1905 and 2105, and returned them both for this. JMO, i'm sure they'll be others. =)

(edit) i missed on the HDMI part. If that's not a big deal- still consider the above.

Andrew, thanks. I do want to eventually get a kick butt HDMI receiver, but for now, just want something to hold me over. I wouldn't even mind a refurbed. I've seen some good one's for around $200.

I agree with Andrew on the 235. It's a great receiver. If the 235 is too expensive, check out last year's model, the AVR230. The 230s are going cheap on harman's ebay store and it's within your budget. Although they are refurbs, they still come with the 2yr warranty and a 30day return policy.

    Good luck

I have the Rti8's and am planning on buying the CSi5. I was planning on getting the Rti4's for rears, but discussions here have convinced me to go for the FXi3's instead.

I have the HK335 for these and I really like it. It powers them very well.
