Looks like one of countless small stores based in NYC - possibly selling items that fell off the back of a truck. At the very least you're getting no warrenty support as they aren't authorized sellers, and the company might not be around next week. Buy local or from a very reputable online source - will cost you a bit more, but worth it for the possible saved headaches.

I don't know about you but I would never, never buy such an expensive item on line. There is too much to go wrong & you probably have little or no recourse. I like the good old brick & mortar store. If something goes wrong at least you have a place w/ 4 walls to bring it back to. My opinion only.

Yeah, stay away from this..From their site:

" For our customer's convenience we instruct the trucking company to CALL PRIOR to arrange delivery time as well as IN HOME DELIVERY."

Translation: One of our sales reps will call you and pressure you buy a warranty, add-ons, etc..

If you must buy online, go with a reputable place. Onecall, Crutchfield etc.

Also try to support your local audio/video store

They seem to have a decent reputation:

I've bought my last 2 TV's mail order, or online, saved a bundle. Just make sure you are dealing with a reputable company, and use your VISA card. VISA has always taken care of any problems I have had with online merchants, and promply credited my card, shipping included. Merchants are deathly afraid of losing their visa merchant agreement, and rarely put up any resistance.

Mike, they instruct the TRUCKING company to call you, to arrange delivery time. That's completely normal with heavy shipments sent by truck. Even Crutchfield does that.

Yep, just checked out crutchfield and they do make arrangements. However, there is a big difference: Crutchfield is an authorized dealer for every brand they sell.

My interpretation was because I heard of too many bad experiences with some shops in NYC and as a result, I am very, very skeptical..also when I go to the city, I see some of these stores ...

Since a lot of them change names and move around, etc I will not buy from shops like these. That is just me though..

Their overall score is 9.04, that's better than 95% of the sites listed. It's certainly better than Circuit City's rating of 2.74:

But you have to go with what you are comfortable with. Good luck either way.

Buy local. Heaven forbid you buy something you can see yourself instead of taking some joe schmoe's advice/suggestion. "You know, I think this Akai looks just as good if not better than the Pioneer models!" OK Joe...

I wouldn't order a tv online, unless I had seen it, and knew it was exactly what I wanted. As long as you know what you want, ordering online is no problem.

Return shipping is expensive on big tv's, even with a good return policy.

Ok guys went to my local Circuit City and watched plasma displays for about 1hr and finally decided on the Panasonic 42' TH42PH50U Plasma which was on sale for $1799.The picture quality is outstanding and compared to the HD $5k Plasma's I could hardly tell the difference. This is my first Plasma purchase so I hope everything works smoothly once I get it all hooked up and mounted to the wall.Cant wait!

All the salesmen around here are telling me that the Panasonic plasmas are one of the best.
Now to tell the wife about the price you got on it, maybe we can get one....lol.

Panasonic makes a real nice plasma but personally, I'd buy Pioneer as my first choice, LG as my second. I prefer the picture on the Pioneer but I like the 60k lifespan on the LG's...

Agreed, and that's just what I did after a ton of research. And guess what? The TV I just bought went UP $100 and shipping went UP $150! No doubt due to astronomical gas prices! Well, at least I saved $250 by NOT WAITING! :D

Exactly. I'm looking at the 52" version of the JVC you got. Best Buy had it on sale for $2899 a couple of weeks ago, that's $3072 with tax.

I can get it at vanns.com $2399, with the matching stand (free) no tax, and free shipping. That's a $675 savings over Best Buy, $975 if you count the stand. I don't know about you, but $975 is a lot of bread to me.

And I don't consider buying from Best Buy, or Circuit City, supporting "local" buisnesses. They drove all the independent audio shops out of business around here, so there's no local business to support..

BB and CC definitely don't count as local shops IMO either. Screw them... even though I basically work for a similar company (who's only 2 locations right now and carries much higher end product).

I already have the LG plasma's and I think a model of the Samsung that has a 60k life. Lord knows 30k isn't long enough.......if you run it 24 hours a day.
