I can sell my Conrad Johnson SA-250 and Dodd ELP and more than cover the cost of a used Jolida 502B integrated. Looking for opinions on whether or not you think this would be a lateral move or an upgrade. Any opinions?

What's 'stand pat' mean? I mean, I assume it means 'stay with the status quo'...but...how?

^ I thought that was obvious. Is that a tube amp? I believe I've looked at one before (online); was pretty nice.

No, but as tubey as a SS amp can get from what I've heard.

Yeah, I've seen your comments. Congrats! Awesome looking amp and I'm very tempted. A guy on Audiogon has one that's only a few months old for $825 shipped. It's stock though. I wonder how the stock unit compares. Anyway it might be a mute point now. I had an absolutely religious experience last night with my system. I got some new 6DJ8's to try in the ELP and these are incredibly real and 3 dimensional sounding. I was just blown away. I've never experienced a soundstage so real and 3 dimensional. Every instrument seemed like it was right where it was supposed to be , both side to side and front to back, and at the exactly correct amplitude. These are orange letter Amperex's with the A-frames...made in Holland and supposedly a 'PQ' model (non-gold pin) but I haven't been able to find out much about this type and the lettering is worn pretty good. Pure magic though. I hope it wasn't just one of those times that you can never seem to duplicate.

The "PQ's " seem to have a following, those sound like a nice tube.. A frames supposed to be good as well... I'm still gonna try a Jolida of some sort.. never had a int. amp anyways... gotta try em all and see what fits as they say

Upscale audio sells the PrimaLuna Prologue integrated amplifiers in two different models. these are made by the same people from Holland that build the AH!Njoe Tjoeb cd players and are very good units from what i have seen from posts by people who own them. i would look into these also!

I think it would be an upgrade in sonic clairity but only a lateral move in dynamics. I'd go for it if it were me.
