Thanks for taking the time to read this thread. I apprciate any help. I have wired very basic systems but i have been thrown for a loop here.
My question is all the speakers sound awesome but i noticed that on the 25's L/R towers the top mid-range spkr is louder than the bottom mid-range spkr, the Tweeter sounds fine. Also the FX's right side mid-range and tweeter on both speaker boxes is louder then the left side of each FX spkr box. And of course the center spkr is the same way. Seems as if i am only using half the speakers potential. Each speaker is connected to the top +/- post with jumpers connected except the 25's have a subwoofer RCA on the line level connector. Speaker polarities are all correct.
Now If i run 2 speaker wires from each connector on the onkyo to both terminals on the speakers and remove the jumpers will this help?
Here's a Bad drawing of the setup if my explanation sucks
Heres my system:
Onkyo TX-SR600
(2)LSi-25
(2)LSi-FX
(1)LSi-C
Wire 10ga gold plated bananna plugs on each end (10ga probably over kill i know It was what i had lying around from a car install i did)
I have the settings on the Onkyo as follows:
Speaker Config Level Calibration
A. Subwoofer :Yes A. Left +5dB
B: Front L/R :Large B. Center +6dB
C. Center :Large C. Right +5dB
D. Surround L/R :Small D. Surr Right +7db
E. Surround Back :Small (nothing hookd up to it) E. Surr Back +7db
F. Crossover :100Hz F. Surr Left +7dB
G. Subwoofer 0dB
Speaker distance is set to 5 ft
The Subwoofer Pre-out on the Onkyo Is connected to the right LSi-25 Line input and output from the right out put to the left LSi-25 Line input. And Yes the Jumper Strips are removed.
The settings on the back of the 25's are like this
Vol Knob 1/4 turn,
Frequency set halfway or about 100hz,
Phase=Norm,
Power=Auto.
The Fx speakers are set to Dipole

Welcome to the Forums. Nice speakers.
Answer: No. Biwiring isn't going to solve any problems with your system.
Apart from your question and problem: I can't help but notice that you've got $4,000 to almost $5,000 worth of excellent speakers being driven by what? $400 to $500 worth of receiver? It's out classed so don't really expect to do the speakers much justice with it. Save up and make this item the first in line for an upgrade. Good luck and have fun building your system. -
Well, the drivers in the 25's and the center are a cascaded array, which means they are crossed over at different frequencies. They don't output the same because the output information iisn't the same for each of them.
The FX's are set to dipole, and you have the surr. back speakers on. Try setting them to bipole and turning the others off, since you are not using them.
When you re-calibrate, since you will have to, set the speaker distances to the real distances using a tape measure to where your head will be.
Biwiring may not help, given the gauge wire your using. Make jumpers for them (besides the 25's) out of the wire you are using.
Lastly, Bob is right about the electronics. The LSi's are 4 ohm. Your receiver isn't going to do it for them. Look into saving up to upgrade,
Hope this helps... -
Nice speakers. But as mentioned your receiver isn't up for the task. If you get another receiver, you will need one with pre-outs to add separate amps later on down the line, or you can get true separatesMarantz AV-7705 PrePro, Classé 5 channel 200wpc Amp, Oppo 103 BluRay, Rotel RCD-1072 CDP, Sony XBR-49X800E TV, Polk S60 Main Speakers, Polk ES30 Center Channel, Polk S15 Surround Speakers SVS SB12-NSD x2

ditch the receiver ASAP- or better yet, if it's got Pre-outs, buy a good multi-channel amplifier on Ebay- good deals everywhere. Rotel, Parasound, Outlaw Audio, NAD, Adcom to start..
Welcome to the forums! -
HI MS,
Well we are all in agreement, ( a bit of a rarity) yep you need more clean power. The 600 series does not have pre-outs, so sell it, its still a decent receiver.
And Welcome to CP, where the cool audio folks hang.
