hi ive got a pair if gale 3030 floorstanding loudspeakers im not too sure what to think of them aneybody elses opinions?

and about 3 months ago i blew a bass driver and have scince replaced it .But at the time whilst the pair were blown and replacments cost about £125 so i nearly put them on ebay as spare parts (crossover, tweeter etc) i got as far as taking the tweeter out then changed my mind because a bookshelf version (same drivers) of the speakers appered also on ebay so i got them cheap and fixed the pair with the blown bass drivers with the drivers from the bookshelf version but now one vibrates at higher volumes (not as loud as it was when i blew them though) has any body got suggestions on how to stop them vibrating?

ive tried taping the internal cable to the foam inside to find out if that was the problem but no change.

Those look awfully familiar.....what do they remind me of????...hmmmmm

They look like very nice speakers, and what really matters is what "YOU" think of them.
To be quite honest, what "WE" think means squat.

So, tell us what you like and dislike about these fine looking speakers.

I am sorry, I have no opinion on the matter. I am sure you do. So, don't mind me, I just want to talk audio and pie.

Yeah, that's it, the Totems that Zero showed us pics of not too long ago. Now they aren't identical, but the design is similar enough.

Looks like a .5" thick cabinet....

    Vinyl wrapped...

I mean I dont know what to tell ya... just by looking at it - I cant say I am terribly impressed...

I would say the post look fairly high quality, but they look similar to the ones I saw on an Infinity Speaker System... hehe

I dunno, have you heard them or what?

    I've never heard of Gale...

And they remind me of the Monitor series (new)...

    Totem has a front spike...

I wouldn't say it's a clone, as what else would you do with a two drivers? There's not but a handful of ways to make a basic floorstander.

The feet look more Totem than anything if that's what the actual reference is about....

Also, since they don't have a US distributor, I wouldn't expect too many "They sound great!" or "Highly recommended!" statements.
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

Hmm. From looking at the specs, they have nothing on my Klipsch!!

However, they do have a nice look.

    ward91,

I wasn't trying to be an ****, far from it. I just don't think many of us have even heard of these and all, much less put ears on them(don't you love the way we use the English language) ;) . There may be a couple of fellows that have heard them, but surely they would have chimed in by now.

Anyway, you still haven't told us what you think of them and what you'd compare them to.

anyway i carnt realy describe them other than compared to mission m71i, kef cresta2 or mission cyruss 780(not used cyruss with my marantz sr4400 avr)(is that how you spell cyruss?) they sound fairly well balenced more bassy than the missions but the bass is deeper but not the same as my dads kef cresta 2's the kefs dont sound that disimilar than my mission m71i's(now used as center as got 5of5 stars in what hi fi and quoted good vocals) they have fairley flat sound for voices and things in the simmilar range sometimes boring when compared to my mission m71i.compared our neigburs cyruss system they sound fairley good (bass) the mit and high is different though, and compaed to my dads frainds linn kairin pre amp?linn sondeck turntable ,linn lingo something or another and to linn lk280 power amps with cables as thic as gas pipes, some arcam cd player and finaly some lin something oranother speakers on stands as wide as the speakers themselves it sounds slightely dim although they have deeper but not as detailed bass although they dont sound crappy compared to. they had worse mid but not that worse and the high isnt that off.

what is a 1st order crossover aneyway

i have never seen the totem floorstanders but i had a pair of paradigm monitor 11s with almost identical outboard spikes and my reference studio 100 v3s also have the same spike design. how dead do these speakers sound when you rap on them hard with your knuckles ? how do you like the sound of them? the only person you have to please is yourself

You don't annoy me you dolt, you annoy everyone.

    I'm 16, almost 17 Georgie boy.

    I'm glad I annoy everyone :)

I also help quite a few too. ;)

EDIT: I've talked to much, much more threatening people than you. Your a relatively harmless lil man if you ask me. Alot to say no doubt, but harmless none-the-less. I'm glad you take your time to respond to an annoying, worthless little twit though. :D
