will it work if i use a 6.1 ch direct input and some phono splitters to tri wire some speakers ,then use the rear Channels to power the bass and the center and surround center to power the midrange drivers?will it even sound better? i can't tri wire my speakers, although i can bi wire i am just curious. cheers

He is from England you know :D

But anyways, man you'll get no benefit from what you are suggesting(I think I know what he's suggesting) using an AVR. If it has pre-outs, utilize those with external amps, if you're hell bent on "bi-amping" your speakers.

no not quite,i dont think? what i mean is you say put a three way phono splitter in the l/r outputs of a cd player then plug them into 3 sets of L/R cables then feed them to the 6.1channel inputs on the rear of my amp ,then at the speaker connections feed 3 sets of wire to tri wire

can you? sure. I don't think it will give you a large benefit though with an AVR.

There is dubious benefit to bi-amping with real amps. (compared to just running one large amp) I don't think you will see any benefit to doing it with an AVR.

Then again, it shouldn't hurt anything. If you have the cables, give it a shot and report back what you notice.....

Yes you can do that, but you'll likely see no improvement. The major weakness of a reciever is the power supply- you've got exactly one in there, so no matter how you hook it up, it's still coming from the same pool.

Now, it you got an active crossover and split out the signal into different frequencies before going into the 6.1's AND bypassed the passive crossovers in your speakers you might seen an improvement, but I kinda doubt that you want to do that.

would there be a difference if I bought another of the same amp and I used it to biamp
could one being hotter than the other affect the sound?

I think he means it was grounded twice. (not exactly accurate, but I think that is what he meant...)

I would be interested in your results of bi-amping your speakers and just getting one large amp to run them with. (replace the jumper between your terminals with some decent speaker wire to make things comparable.)

I think you would be happier with one large amp rather than a decent amp and an AVR bi-amped, but then again - you never know.

well at the minute I kind have wasted cable because it is as if its biamped at the speaker end but at the amp end there twisted together so I wouldn’t need more cable if I wanted to bi amp, although is having two cables bad for impedance ?

    cheers
