Hey guys I was going to start upgrading my HTIB and my local circuit city has polk rti70's and R50's on sale. Are either of these good upgrades for my system. Can my amp drive these sufficiently as these are the 8 ohm norm.
Thanks

Chris

    Welcome,

Most here prefer the 70s, I haven't heard them. The Onkyo receiver will drive the 50s just fine, but you will want to upgrade down the road. Mine is the last piece of 770 still in service, soon to be replaced

Listen to them both, you decide. I didn't know the Rti70s were still around at CC. Got my 50s at Frys. :)

    Rti70's vs. R50's?

No comparison. 70's all the way & welcome to the forum dagame.

Your CC still has RTi70s? If they still have them, they're in decent shape, and they're being sold at a good price <$400 or so - then I say grab the RTi70.

yea I found them new at the last store in the chicago area that had them. $125/ea. I got the idea from an open box speaker I saw in ford city. They still have it for $109 but it is only one. :(

WOW! I have the 70's hooked up. UNREAL! Were my onkyo speakers that bad or these that good? I am listening to Go Your Own Way by Fleetwood Mac and there's a guitar rift in the middle that I couldn't even hear before. I am definitely thrilled with the sound. Now I just have to upgrade the rest of these damn speakers. At least it doesn't make a difference with my music. 2 channel stereo is definitely the way to go!

Even the 50s do that to the Onkyo speakers. They sound adequate for HT, but sucked for music...
