I was thinking of how to categorize these bands, Rock is the general, but there must be some other subcat to put them in. They arent' really heavy groups, but do have moments. Some bands like Lacuna Coil, have a female opera type singer with a rock male singer coming in for the punch. I like where "rock" music is going.....progressive?

I liked them quite a bit till I saw them in concert...
Now that I think about it... That happens to me with alot of bands..- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit. -
Were they not good live? I rather enjoy live shows with the band actually playing, I went to a Nelly show, (he happened to be on the bill), and running a turntable and a Mic just didn't go off real well. Going to go see Puddle of Mudd tonight in San Diego. For free, 4th and B must not of sold to many tickets as they sent out an email to members to print out the ticket and bring it with them. I wonder if there is a reason behind this, do they suck or what?

Well, when I saw them they were the head liner...
They tried way to hard to act "cool". It was almost hard to watch for me...
I have seen a few awesome bands like Breaking Benjamin in concert, and they don't have to try to act "cool". They really are "cool" and make people jump, mosh, pass out, whatever ya know? You see a band with the "control" that Breaking Benjamin has and then you go to Trapt and its like - you're nothing.
Not to mention their songs just started to all sound the same to me after a while.
The worst band I have ever seen live was Linkin Park. I had to readjust my hearing about a week after that show. Chester and the other guy, whatever his name is are a complete ear sore in every way. They have almost no musical talent in their blood outside a computer. I was VERY dissapointed and quite disgusted with the entire performance. I am no longer a Linkin Park fan by any margin what so ever. Eff them.
Saliva was another one, they werent nessicarially bad, they just didn't give a good show... way to formal... Joesy(sp) Scott was wearing a freakin suit?? lol
I dunno, I've seen alot of bands that have impressed me and really controlled the stage ya know? And seeing Trapt try to control it was just very dissapointing and depressing to watch... bleh
Puddle Of Mud has like 4 good songs (to me)... their 2nd CD has nothing good on it... (to me)- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit. -
I agree with a lot you have said, I like Breaking Benjamin too. But I really enjoy going to see Slipknot, they seem to play in the South. Cali area at least 6 times a year and I try to make all of them. Stage ShOw for sure. Can't really understand all that they are saying, even though I know most of the words from the lyric sheet. I have Puddle of Mudd's CD's but they really don't get much air time. Never seen them live, so this will either be a treat or a trick, we'll see, can't beat the price of free though, actually about 4 gallons of gas, a few beers etc.
Don't like saliva, I tried to like them, but can't even get into their studio stuff.
I actually liked Linkin Park, seen them during the Metallica tour a couple years back. I was sitting far away in the Stadium, so my ears were saved.
Next month.............Heart........... -
I like Saliva, studio - really enjoyed their two CDs. Josey Scott completely ruined the concert though, coming out there with a tux, big rings, jewlery, etc - trying to act big, bad, and official. I just didn't get how this fit in with a rock image ya know??
Linkin Park came after Korn, which is a very tough act to follow - Korn puts on one hell of a show thats for sure. I was very surprised!
Never been much of a Slipknot fan myself...
Id be interested in hearing what you think about POM. I really like their song control, if only the rest of the CD had that tone/speed ya know? hmmm- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit. -
I'll let you know tomorrow...............on the POM gig. I am thinking it is a lot more than just them. It is some Sin City tour they are doing.
