Today was a horrible day at work...so it's finally over with and looking forward to going home. So I get to my car which I bought brand new two weeks ago and some f$%^ing kids keyed the whole left side of it....unreal...I just needed to vent.
Anyone of anything good over the counter what will help with the light surface scratches???

dont think it matters if the person who did it was 60 keying a car is childish!!! thats just crap it. if the scratches are not too deep you can use a buffer and some rubbing compound from a auto paint store if you can see through the clear to metal or run your finger nails and they catch pretty good on the scratch you will probably need to have it sanded out and repainted

    Well...

People probally will disagree but it wont hurt it to do it once in a while...

Get some colored wax (that comes with a lipstick type deal to put on scratches) and apply the lipstick, then the colored wax - it will make your car a bit darker (in a good way) it will lighten the scratches.

I'm sure someone will have an opposite opinion of mine, or a different experience - but i've used color waxes alot and have had no issues. The only probaly I can tell it is if you have lettering on your car, it will turn it a light shade of the wax...

I don't stereotype anyone. This group of kids has been caught doing this before. Unfortunately there is nothing that we as merchants can do to keep these kids out of our parking lot, it's public property. When they do get caught Mommy and Daddy bail them out and cut them loose again. Spoiled rich kids that never had to work for a damn thing in their life, it was just handed to them. I've had to fight tooth and nail since day 1 and it pisses me that an investment that I worked so hard for is nothing to these brats, they are just bored and looked for something "fun" to do. It's everything that's wrong with a lot of younger people that I can come in contact with, they have no values...It's sad really.
By the way, thanks for your help...all you did was piss me off even more...nice job.

I would find them, identify them publically, and haunt them for the rest of their lives.....well, as long as the current Football season wasn't in progress. That would be their "playtime".

That's awful. Take it to one of those fancy carwashes and see if they can buff it out. If not, you need to file a report and have your insurance take care of it.

sorry to hear about the car. I don't know about any over the counter products to get rid of the scratches.

you said you were in a parking lot. Do you guys have any video recording for security purposes? It would be great to catch these little punks on tape and then have mommy pay for the body work. :D

My car is 2006 Mitsubishi Eclipse GT. I've had the car for two weeks. It's going to be a ridiculous amount of money to fix. Upon closer inspection I think it was done by a knife, at some points it goes down to the freaking metal. For the most part I think I am going to have the whole right side of the car repainted. I'm guessing this is going to be a $1000+ job.
I am going to try and get the real estate company to pay to the damage. They make us park in the middle of nowhere and provide no security. I'm meeting with property manager tomorrow.
I hate to put in an insurance claim because they are so funny about claims now. Too many and your done, plus I am still out my deductable. I don't know what to do, I am pretty much beside myself...my baby is wounded.

Just make sure that the bodyshop you use cuts the glass and removes all trim and handles, that way there won't be so many tape off lines that someone like me can find during an appraisal when it's time to trade.

ND13, thankd for the tip. From someone that knows better than myself, is it best to take it back to the dealer to have done even though it cost me an arm and a leg?
My primary concern is to get it done right.
