In some thread about cars, someone sad they could get a history report on a car. I'm currently looking at a car for sale in the neighborhood (if he hasn't already sold it; think he might've today :(), and I would like a report, if it's possible. Only thing is, can it like be e-mailed to me? I can't really receive it as a fax. If someone can get one and e-mail it to me, it'd be much appreciated! However, if it doesn't work out, that's ok, too...I guess..

Thanks!!

If someone has a connection and can grab a report for free, great.

But if they can't get it for you, carfax is a great site.

You will need the VIN # and $19.99. It's $20 well spent

I used carfax a few times. My present car had been totaled before I bought it. Carfax confirmed it. :)

I wanna know who exactly is providing all this information to the carfax people? I've pointedly asked both my insurance company as well as a body shop and both have claimed to not send out any sort of information.

Most recently with the accident I had in January, I was concerned that ultimately the dollar amount of the repair (7k+) would freak anyone out that would have seen it when I went to sell it, even though the car wasn't totalled. Not that it's a huge issue because I've (begrudgingly) decided to keep the car for a few years.

That would have been me. I can get Carfax's for free as I have an account. All you have to do is get me the complete vin. Guys and gals, don't waste your money, just get me the VINs and I can get them for any of you that have never pissed me off :D . J/K. I only charge $10 ;):D .

Seriously, I would do it for free to any Club Polk member.

The 'begrudgingly' was because I have decided to hold onto the Honda for a few years before I get the 300. The reason is that since I have been in Chicago area for 5 weeks now, I have put almost 3000 miles on my car running around to all the stores that I cover, and I would be completely out of warranty within 12-15 months. I would rather just keep the Honda and drive it into the ground than to do that type of damage to my pimpmobile.... *tear*

    Brett,

It's probably the better decision anyway. I think the 300 is a really nice car and alot of people like it, and I think it'll stick around for a while.

This'll give them time to work out some of the kinks before you snag one. From what I've gathered from my friends who have one (the one friend who had tranny issues aside), it's a solid car overall, but has a few quirks that start to annoy some owners after a while. Maybe they'll get all that stuff worked out before you pick one up.

Ya.....TRUST when I say that I REALLY REALLY REALLY didn't want to make this decision, but all in all, it's the better choice....

    Brett,

How are ya liking our traffic so far? Doesn't I-290 just piss you off?! I think out of all the interstates heading into the city (55, 90, 94, 90/94, 290, 57), 290 is the worst. I used to live in Aurora and had to take I-88 to I-290 in and out every day. It's nice to only jump on Lakeshore Drive for two miles now...

I actually don't work in the city at all......The worst freeway I've encountered has been the 80 between 294 and Indiana....

So far, I've been to Indianaplois, Muncie, Lafayette, Champaign, Springfield, Iowa tour (twice), Green Bay, and South Bend (twice)......next up, Green Bay again, Rockford, Indianapolis, Bloomington, and a few others....

Brettw22 - if you are out Schaumburg way on a weekday or the Rockford area on a weekend let me know and I'll buy ya lunch!

And to answer who supplies all this information to Carfax, AutoCheck, etc. That's the business I'm in.

ND13 - what DMS do you use, ADP or R&R?

What business is it that does give out that information?

Driving, driving, driving.....this will probably get old in a few months, but thankfully the little Escort Passport knomes did a good thing and created my 8500.....

Brettw22 - I live in Belvidere, right to the east of Rockford. I work in Schaumburg, not too far from the Woodfield Mall area. I work for a direct marketing and credit bureau company.

ND13 - good answer! If you use their Data Integrity Services you are using some of the products I manage.

ADP sucks. R & R is alot more intuitive, imo.
