Yamaha RX-V675 Review

Well...I finally gave my new Yammie a listen last night- after having her sit in the box for 2 months. I was pretty impressed. This unit does have the XM tuner (I still need to set this up - that review later) and 7.1 surround. I was just listening too the unit via regualar FM station and I was very happy.
Ease of set up as I have found with Yamaha units is quite easy. Well laid out back pannel for I think a drunk monkey could set it up! Unit has 2 componant in and componant out with of course- componant up-conversion. I don't have a lot connected to this one. Just my Panasonic progressive scan, Dish DVR and a game cube.
It is the first time that I have had componant inputs too my Toshiba 46" DLP and that was impressive. Watched part of "Looney Tunes- back in Action" and I was deeply impressed with the picture. I have heard concerns about the componant up-conversion or the componant out on the Yamaha's coloring the picture.
Using 5.1 surround (phantom center) the Yamaha did a great job out of the box. I have not had time to properly set up that portion- other then setting up the phantom center.
The remote seems quite friendly- even has a/b speaker control on it and zone 2 controls (Which I also need to set up)- and its a bit smaller then my RX-V2400..Nice for the bedroom.
All in all..so far- I"m still impressed with Yamaha. This is my 4th unit from them ( I still have the other 3) and they all live up to thier claim.
I'll do more on her when I get her set up better and get the XM/zone 2 going.
for now...Peace
Thomas.
Speakers:
Polk RT800i's (front/center)
Polk RT35i's (surround)
DCM dual 12 sub- had her for years- still sounds great!
