Well, I've given it a little time now and the tube-pre is just amazing me more and more. Here's a link to my initial findings which was a learning process...

After a week, the tube-pre is awesome. Even with the chinese tubes. Now that no y-connectors are in the mix, everything sounds great. Music is much more full and rich sounding. Music's bass is dead-on. If the song has bass, you hear it. If it doesn't, you don't and nothing is muddied up. 2-channel music listening actually has more bass now than before when using my AVR. But don't get me wrong, the bass is not over-exagerated. It is right. Not that I listen to symphony music much, but my girlfriend and I put one in and both her and I sat there and commented on how awesome/real it sounded. It was all strings and each instrument sound detailed and full. A nice warm sound. This is the sound of music I've been wanting. Music is my passion, and the pre has been one of the most enjoyable investments.
Just got done watching my first movie utilizing the tube-pre for the mains. I have noticed no negative impact for overall theatre experience. Additionally, the bass throughout the movie led me to never even turn on my sub. Of course, my sub is sub-par in comparison to my Lsi15s. The 15's cranked out couch shaking bass. I didn't really notice much difference in the mid's and highs. But I didn't really expect it to, too much on movies. I do love watching concert DVD's, so I'll be doing that soon. I expect that'll be great.
Anyone who loves music, you've gotta get into tubes.

That's my next move. I just have to figure out if I want to go integrated, like the ASL AQ1003DT, and use my Dodd ELP on another rig."SOME PEOPLE CALL ME MAURICE,

I haven't thought about a tube amp also. I guess I just steered away because of my fairly ineffecient Lsi15s. Stayed close to the tube pre and SS amp concept.

Just as a comment, IMO, I prefer a SS amp with my LSi9's. I've tried them with the Sunfire tube pre/CJ MV-75A1 combo and didn't think they sounded as good as they sound in the mancave with the CJ PV-7/Carver Silver 9t's.

I'm not at all surprised with your comments after adding tubes to your setup. I took the plunge about 2 months ago w/ a modded Jolida 502B int. amp. I have it running thru my NADT773 receiver for the mains. Home theater never sounded so good. For 2 channel it is absolutely stunning. I'm glad I wet w/ the integrated amp. This way I get the best of both worlds. For HT I simply turn the knob on the Jolida to aux & for 2 channel the NAD is off & I turn the knob on the Jolida to cd & sit back & enjoy!!!!!!!!!!!!!"2 Channel & 11.2 HT "Two Channel:Magnepan LRSSchiit Audio Freya S - SS preConsonance Ref 50 - Tube preParasound HALO A21+ 2 channel ampBluesound NODE 2i streameriFi NEO iDSD DAC Oppo BDP-93KEF KC62 sub Home Theater:Full blown 11.2 set up.

I've been trying to restrain my spending so I can get a tube PRE sometime in the future to use with a S.S. amp. I read somewhere long ago the PRE is a good place to start.
Threads like this get me excited just thinking about what to expect.Denon #2900, Denon stereo receiver, Conrad Johnson Sonographe 120 amp, Blue Jeans cables, and Klipsch RF-7's -
