    Hi Guy,

I picked up a Radioshack brand non-digital sound level meter from SVS when I ordered a sub from them. It cost around $40.00 and it is interesting to play with.

I have FR tracks from 100hz to 13hz and a Excel chart filled out with the correction factors. This allows for you to make a chart of your subwoofer, etc...

Email - Vr3mxdmicblce2k7 for the chart, and you will have to have a messenger of sorts to receive the tones.

i think you're looking for a real time frequency spectrum analyzer (RTA) and a calibrated mic. there are freeware rta programs on the net, then you'd just have to buy a calibrated mic that you can connect to your computer.

i haven't used any of these (what i've used is a stand alone component that has, probably, only a 1/100th of the capabilities of the freeware stuff today), but i believe i've seen their output in Subwoofer Hookup & Bass Management section of the forum, so someone around here might be able to give you some input on which ones they prefer.

Thanks everyone, Ive seen the rta at Partsexpress, but there 400.00-1100.00. Just wanted to know if people here invested that much $$ or used something else.

i really don't know what's available today in stand alone rta's. here's the first pic i could find of one similar to the one i bought, i guess, decades ago:

    http://www.audiogold.co.uk/catalogue/product_info.php?cPath=5_43&products_id=251&osCsid=6fbae17c9a8aaf27ef0f85cb6009c431

i've seen these for sale used often, but they don't have nearly as much control or resolution as programs that you can download and run on your computer, like these:

    http://www.trueaudio.com/rta_abt1.htm
    http://www.sonicspot.com/wavetools/wavetools.html

i haven't used any of these, but i'd be interested if anyone has and how well they work.
