Well, i bought it about a month ago, and had just recently blown a sub in the box. The Polk representative for the car audio shop I frequent, was totally blown away about how severe I blew the sub. I think he almost went as far to say that he's never seen one so blown.

Do I get a trophy???

And the funny thing is, I blew it listening to Led Zepplin

How much power are you running to them? Also, are you sure the gains were properly set up?

Wow, I've been beating the crap out of these boxes since Fall and haven't blown a woofer yet. At a certain point you can't get anymore output, so it's not worth trying.

If I were a betting man Id wager that not only was the gain set up too high but the bass boost was cranked all the way. This would easily clip the amp, sending double the power to the subs and SPLAT!

well, the amp was tuned/set-up from the car audio shop. And he is great friends with the Polk representative. The amp was set properly. No bass boost either was involved. The box is being powered by a JL Audio e1800D amp.

1800d? now i dont know JL, but is that 1800 w at 2 ohms??????? that's like more than double the necessary power --- 700 - 1000 is about all you're gonna do on 2 db junior 12's ...

i'm actually impressed with the db juniors - i had thought they were somewhat slouchy when they first came out - mainly from appearances and the "skinny" surround (which to the naked eye indicated low excursions. yet, after listening to them in even sealed boxes. they're POWERFUL SON OF A GUNS! nice and clean too.

ahh the good days are back folks, relish in them.

the "lowest" polk line still beats the living **** out of 90% of the other stuff on the market... *sniffle* god i love life.

    The E1800D is 400x1 at 4 ohms and 800x1 at 2 ohms.

The 1 stands for 1 channel.
