Now...

I am a post ****... I admit...

But I am getting tired of seeing +1... I mean it was cute the first time it was done, and it was pretty cute when someone followed with +2, +3, +4...

But it is getting where all I see is +1...

If you don't have something more to add than +1... why do you even bother to post? I'd rather you completely derail the post, say something completely off the wall, funny, or repeat the same exact thing you are agreeing with - anything but two characters...

Atleast put effort into your post whoreness.

    "Should I buy an Adcom GFA-555 that for sale local to me for $5?"

    And one person posted "Yeah, that would probably be a safe bet"

    Would you be confident to go on that ONE person's opinion, if you knew nothing of the product? Now, say you've got a bunch of people that come along and post "+1", meaning that they agree with the above poster, well, that would reaffirm your decision all the more, without taking a lot of time in the hands of the +1'ers

    I see its use...

    But I see it EVERYWHERE. Why didn't users do this before - this seems to be a recent "fad" on the board. I remember when I actually had to sit down and read the posts on this forum... now I just gotta reading one post and a bunch of + signs...

    I mean the idea is great, but every idea can be abused eventually... and I think we are stepping on that ground.

    Yeah, it's OK, but if using the +1 symbol, at least follow it up with why you agree. Is it based on your personal experience due to ownership, what you've read, what you're heard at a friend's house, concensus on the forum, scientific data...??? That kind of info would be much more helpful, especially to the new folks.

    That is EXACTLY my point. I have problem with people agreeing, as long as you can state why. Something tells me +1, even if showing they agree with the above poster isnt helping the Newbie at all... its just showing sheep are posting on this forum...

    Man, would you be griping if people inserted some useless filler? Instead of "+1", they said like, "I agree, I'd definitely go with that." or "I agree, teh LSi9 is a great speaker". Both of those say exactly the same thing as "+1" would.

    You really need to lighten up Sid, you're getting crotchety in your old age.


    danger boy - i think what you're referring to is when someone says, for example:

    "danger boy +1"

    meaning they're just showing which poster they agree with. See?
