Does anyone have any advice on these two enclosures? I am looking at the vehicle specific (02' Silverado ext. cab) type and am looking for a "Unloaded" version to house my MM 2104 10" sub.

I would go with MTX over Q Logic. Those seem to be a little more flimsy than the MTX.

Actually though, your best bet would be to hit your local shop. I bet ya theyve got a good solid, 3/4" MDF boxes thatll fit your truck perfectly and they may even be a little cheaper.

They had one for my beloved Dodge Ram but it was for dual 10's and I only wanted one. Plus I wanted to build my own.

High quality enclosures - 1" thick MDF ;) - CNC cut - Wrapped In Carpet... all that.

Yeah, but he's looking for a vehicle specific box. Ya know, one thatll drop right in under the seat like it was OEM.

For those, most manufacturers use plastic as its cheaper than fiberglass.

My buddy put a Q-Logic one in his F-150. He has two 8" JL Audio W0's (think), they sound very nice in his truck.

I myself have had issues with Q-Logic. Mainly leaks with their sealed enclsoures, but nothing a little silicone could not use. If I had a choice I would go with the MTX box too.

The JL Audio Stealthbox is the best, but its also the most expensive. They dont come unloaded so youre looking at $500 with the sub.

I still say your best bet is to check with your local shop. Im willing to bet if he doesnt have one premade he can whoop one up for ya in a day or two for less than $200 which is only a tad more than you would pay for a premade box.

The Stealthbox is fiberglassed over whatever they make the initial molding out of isn't it ??

I had a thunderform... the one for the dual 10's under the seat of a 94 to 02 ram.

Now mind you, the mtx 4000's it came with were 200 watt subs, i ripped them out, put in a pair of Polk DX's with about 350 going to each sub (you couldn't buy them unloaded at the time) and i blew a crack in the plastic seam at the back of the plastic piece of crap.

mtx's response, "the enclosure was not designed for that woofer, warranty void".

i can respect that... i mean, if i threw an older Momo into a 1/2 " wall particle board box, then i'd be asking for trouble too. I guess the point is though that it's a warning, be careful about buying these plastic hunks of junk, they're not cheap, and they're not very good at all.

You're better off doing what MacLeod suggests, find a local box builder, give the buy 300 bucks, and call it a day, getting a nice 3/4" mdf or birch ply box that'll last you many many many years, and can take the abuse of 200, 300, 400, 700, 800, or 1000 watt subs should you choose to "upgrade" over time (Assuming box depth is sufficient for the woofer's depth).

I wanted to get a JL box for my car, but they don't have them any more :(. They came with one of the older 10" W6's. I still keep my eye open for a used one.
