2 ohm speakers

I have a Bose "Premium" sound system in my 94 Acura Legend and was looking to replace the speakers (one of them is a little crackly). From what I know, it has a 200w amp and 2 ohm speakers all around (5 1/2" in the doors and 6"x9" with a satellite tweeter on the deck). I know there are not a lot of 2 ohm options out there, so I heard if you wire two 4 ohm speakers in parallel it give you the 2 ohm impedance I'm looking for (maybe a mid and tweeter). Has any one tried this? Will it work? Fairly new to car audio, so any help would be helpful.

(I also want to do this to play with some fiberglass to custom fab some speaker mounts).

I'm considering replacing the whole set-up, but I'm not sure if I'm keeping the car yet.

Running (2) 4 Ohm speakers in parallel will certainly give you a 2 Ohm load. But to be honest, why would you want to use the stock amps? Take em' out and buy yourself a separate amp with some good quality separate speakers for them 5 1/2 in. cut outs. If you aren't willing to part with the rest of the system, you can probably find a car in the salvage yard that has a bose system and have the speaker pulled.....

Agreed. If youre going to upgrade to quality aftermarket speakers, why not go all the way and get a quality amp. A good 4 channel amp can easily be had for under $200 nowadays so there is really no reason not to.
