okay guy`s...need your advise...

I have a BMW M3/325i that needs MOMO.. :D

need some suggestions
up front there is a 5 1/4" in the kick panel
in the front door there is a tweet and a 3" mid...

obviously a 5 1/4" component up front, and either disconect the 3" mid , or hook it up somehow to the deck/component crossover..

what do you think..?

5 1/4 ---6 1/4 ----or 6x9`s in the back
components, or 2 way ?

8- 10 -12 sub?
1 or two ?

amps will be 4oo.4 and 5oo.1 polk amps..thats a no brainer

alpine HU..

not needing extreme spl...I do need the best SQ for the best price, as I do have a budget....not sure what that is , but there is a limit.. :D

Crutchfield has deals goin on so I also thought about the DB series, but...:o

what would be the best combo ?
don`t state the obvious, lets get creative and stay in the SQ ballpark
and no I can`t afford the new bada$$ speaks that just came out...
If I did that there would be no amps..!!
a lot of this project will hinge on sales through the fleamarket and audiogon, as soon as I get them listed...I gotta sell some home stuff for car stuff, and still be able to make Polkfest..

MMC5250's for the front components. Outstanding speakers, youll love em.

Disconnect the mids. Dont need em.

Rear speakers are controversial. First off, they pull your soundstage to the rear and cause cancellation so they wont offer the best SQ. But they dont make it suck either and if you haul passengers around a lot and want them to have music as well then there is certainly nothing wrong with using them. That being said, if you can fit 6x9's then you should get these MMC690's. I owned a set of these for over a year and think theyre the best 6x9's on the market.

If you want to go with dual subs that would certainly be ok. The new DB212-2 is not only a great looking premade sub box but from what I hear it really pounds. The 500.1 would be a great match for it. If you want to make your own enclosure then get a pair of MM2104's and slap em in the trunk. Personally Id go with the DB subs simply because that is a great looking box!

SoundDomain.com is the best place to buy from online. Not only is it new but its fully authorized so youll get the Polk warranty and support. Plus they tend to have a lot of great sales.

    thanks Mac...
I wonder if the db series grills work on the momo`s ?
they look "smoother" for the interior....they blend better...don`t attract as much attention

what if I used the same speaks front and back, and used 8`s for subs ?

if you can - stick with the same "series" - either all DB Junior's or Baby Momo's...

All things considered, I'd do the Baby Momo's...

    MMC5250's up front

For the back - get the MMC6250 (is that the right model #? 6.5" component) midbass driver... if you can just buy the midbass of the component set, that'd be perfect... and dump them in the back with the crossovers... so that you'll get midbass fill (guitars, etc) from the back, but you wont get vocals... this will help keep your "stage" up front but also fill out your car quite well.

For subs - Two momo 2104's ... they'll be perfect off the 500.1, nice and punchy and rich sounding.

If you want to go DB, then by all means you can do so, but the above is what i'd do.

the 10`s come with the amps..
crutchfield....buy Polk momo over $399, get a free 10 sub..
buy 1 amp, wait a few days and buy the second amp...POW ! 2 free subs

I was asking these questions , because I was trying to decide wheather I should put the 5 1/2`s , 6 1/2`s or 6x9`s in the back

I would rather do the momo`s but I hear the db`s sound pretty good also...

I have the EX`s in my truck with the older db 10" subs...sounds good, but this set up will be better I think..!

    If I get momo`s , I will get a third sub free...that one I`ll opt for the 12 for $20 more..
just got to wait a couple more days...unless the offer is only good for 1 sub total

depends on usage. for your purposes and for the 500.1, yes.

Yup. a pair of 10's and you could get the entire 600 watts out of the 500.1 where a single 12 could only get the 350+. You could go with a DVC 12 but the Momo 12 is only a 400 watt sub and the extra 200 watts would be bad.

Generally though, all things being equal, 2 10's are better than a single 12 in that there is more cone area so you get more volume and maybe even more impact. From a strict SQ standpoint tho its a toss up and depends on the make of the sub.

    I think I`ll stick with the 10`s
I have them in my truck and they sound great...hit pretty hard too , when I want them to.

I keep wondering about 8`s though...
    my car is kinda small

I`m looking for SQ more than anything else
    gotta have it tight

Music makes the world okay even when it`s not......

been a very long day , so forgive me if I ramble....

i've got two 8's in the back deck of the caddy... the old rat **** wouldn't let me put 6 12's in the trunk like i wanted to. but the 8's make a world of difference... the sound is "tolerable to listen to on long road trips and the such" - which is a HUGE improvement over the 8 track that preceded it.

8's are ok but really only if theyre going to be in the cab with you like in a truck or SUV. 10's will be better in a trunk and still be plenty musical. Hell, 10's are just fine even if theyre in the cab with you. Theyre the best all around size.

I guess the real question that I haven`t made a decision on is th e6x9`s or 6.5`s

I`m trying to swing both sets and whatever ones don`t go in the car , will go in my jet boat......

    6x9's!

Much better lower frequency response. The MMC690 is Polks best sounding coaxial. Its not contest! Its one of my alltime favorite speakers.

i think grabbing the 6.5's from the momo components and dumping those in back without the tweeters is the best idea... only if it's around the same or less money than the 6x9's... otherwise, grab the 6x9's and play with them till u're happy.

I`m going to use the 7897 out of my truck , or use the 9851 that I`m getting with the speakers from cutchfield.

I just got the car not too long ago, and found out it`s a graymarket car...it`s basically a 325i with M3 bumbers, grill, etc...

M3`s are 2 doors, and mine is a 4 door with Htec lowering/racing suspension

at least that`s what my mechanic tells me..!!
