my amp (polk momo c500.1) keeps turning off once i put the volume up, im running a single mtx 12" sub, someone told me it could be the ground wire but im pretty sure its done right since best buy did it, neone have ne suggestions, upon further investigation i noticed that once i put the volume up the "short" light goes on (the red one)

that would lead me to believe that you have a stripped wire somewhere, and once you turn the voltage up enough, it's arcing to ground and activating the short protection. you'll have to very very carefully check your wiring for cuts, scratches, anything that's not absolutely pristine. i solved this problem, when i had it, by replacing my speaker wire entirely.

If BB did it, then take it back to them.

If best buy did it - then it's probably done WRONG.

You have a Polk amp and MTX sub and Best Buy did the install? Weird, those are CC brands.

Either way, I agree to take it back to BB and let them find the problem. I agree with Neo that its a wire shorting out somewhere, maybe even at the sub itself.

heaven knows best buy and circuit have the most highly trained installers... i mean, you have to be 16 years old, know how to cut up a factory harness and make it useless, break dash panel clips, damage door panels beyond repair, and always, ALWAYS, wire things improperly and install subwoofers in improperly designed / sized boxes.

you can't just learn that stuff overnight - it takes DAYS to be trained to be that incompetant.

and install subwoofers in improperly designed / sized boxes.
Okay... from the 2 q-logic boxes they sell at cc.... none fit the subs... not really the installers fault now is it?

It would be if the installer crammed one in there and tried to pass it off as complete.

BB doesn't sell our stuff. It was either meant to be CC or something is up.

Don't give me too much cred... I was swapping out my head unit on Friday and had to ask Josh and Thom if the remote wire was Blue/White or Blue...

"cut the blue wire... no, wait... the red wire... no, wait... um... the purple wire?" --- Charleton Heston crys out in anguish as they "blow it all up".

i thought some decks only had a single blue or blue/white wire for remote and antenna combined, while others had both blue and blue/white for remmy and antenna (only when radio is on, not cd player).

eh - either way - i'm sure you guys have seen the absolutely abhorred color coding of early 90's ford trucks. it never even was the same from truck to truck, it was like "well we ran out of green with red stripe today, so lets use orange!"
