Well my agent and I have accepted an offer on my house. Hopefully just a matter of formalities now and than I'm outa' here. Gonna' haul my A/V gear and some tools with me to the Santa Cruz area to stay with some kin 'till I can get this wrecked old body of mine fixed up...hopefully. Procedure I'm hoping to receive is the CHARITE artificial disc replacement for my lumbar area. I need two of them bad boys. The procedure has been approved in the USA for one dics only but hopefully it will be approved for multiple replacements by early fall....what my surgeon tells me.
Anyway, there seems to be a glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel to getting fixed up right.
Monterey bay, here we come. And I'll be setting up a little kick **** H/T theater system for my sister out there.
Greg

I was just wondering whether I can transfer the truck title to the state of Ca. I'm not sure if it is equipped with the Ca. emissions crap. Would I have to modify it to comply.suds, suds and more suds!

Closing is slated for Sept. 27. But it can be done much quicker as was the case when I purchased the house. I think it was about 3 weeks.
And yeah, I'm familiar with the babes in Santa Cruz. In one instance, very familiar. And very laid back around that area compared to around here.
And the surgery, as long as they put me out of my mind I should be just fine. And thanks for the well wishes.suds, suds and more suds! -

Good luck with the move, Greg! we'll get together one of these days, you just need to haul yourself up Highway 17 to civilization to San Jorge...I am spending most of my working time in SJ.I am sorry, I have no opinion on the matter. I am sure you do. So, don't mind me, I just want to talk audio and pie.

Best of luck Greg and if you find yourself in the Orange County, Huntington Beach area I'll buy ya a beer.If...

Do NOT transfer your car title to CA!!!!!!! They have some of the hightest property taxes in the country for vehicles (even though the triple rates were repealed a few years ago).....
Guess it depends on if/what you guys pay on vehicle taxes out there comparatively.....
Good luck with the surgery though.......serious stuff there.comment comment comment comment. bitchy. -

I believe that DMV requires the owner the vehicle to transfer the registration to CA after either two to three years. Otherwise, there is a stiff fine. Brett is right though. CA fees are some of the highest in the country. -
I'd be surprised if it was as long as 2 years.....most places will give you a month if you're actually moving there. The key is to keep some form of presence outta state (bill address in PA or something).
If it's a temp thing, you probably have some leeway.....comment comment comment comment. bitchy. -
Jeez, I remember driving that Rt.17 one night in the rain and fog from SJ to SC. Thought I was gonna' die that night. Had those double tractor trailers wizzin' by like I was standing still. And Fransesco, it would be cool to meet some of you on the west coast. Just hopin' Ron-P buys me more than just one beverage though. Hell, I'm good for a six pack just for starters.
And thanks guys for the feedback on the title thingy.
Yeah, the disc replacement sounds like a GREAT alternative to getting half my lumbar fused together. Doctors have been doing that procedure in Europe for some time now. Wish they would get it together here in the US for approval. Gotta' believe there are liability issues holding it up.suds, suds and more suds! -

With the FDA, it takes almost forever. Good luck with the surgery Greg, and welcome to the West Coast. -

Yea, so I'm told. There is also the Pro-disc which was and will again be under clinical studies in the late fall. I applied for the studies in Ca. but need to get my butt out there for evaluations. Kind of a waiting game right now. I'd rather deal with the pain now for a bit longer and wait for the availability of what is certainly the better fix.suds, suds and more suds! -
Ron-P wrote:Well then, sounds as if Steelhead Brewery in Irvine is just the place to go. Drink as much as you'd like and it's all on me, just say the word. It is, by far, my favorite brewery in the area for both great beer and food.
Ron-P, as good as it gets. If I get down that way you are on.suds, suds and more suds! -
Best of luck Greg! Be patient after your surgery. I will take some time and rehab to get where you want. Don't be disapointed if you don't immediately have relief. It will take some time, rehab and hard work. Stay off the narcotics if you can. The side effects aren't worth it.Carl

G, let me know once you settle down and recoup, we'll figure out something, those 17 is indeed something to avoid (which is almost impossible, coming out of SC)...take care, bud.gshisme wrote:Jeez, I remember driving that Rt.17 one night in the rain and fog from SJ to SC.
