"A doctrine fostered by a delusional, illogical minority and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a t-u-r-d by the clean end."

This was a real shock. I knew he was battling lung cancer but I didnt think hed go this quickly.
Political views aside, he was one of the last and better anchorman icons. They are a fading breed I believe.

He was a great news anchor. Very nice leaving the anchor chair empty on ABC tonight.
Dorokusai thanks for the thread. I was afraid no one would do it. -
Also very nice to still announce it as "ABC World News WITH Peter Jennings."
-
He may have technically been a 'news anchor' in the latter years, but at heart, that man was all 'reporter'. He made the other 2 'big guys' step up to the plate.
I'll smoke a Marlboro without the filter tonight for ole' Pete.Check your lips at the door woman. Shake your hips like battleships. Yeah, all the white girls trip when I sing at Sunday service. -
RIP. I thought he was the best of all the network anchors. Do you know he never finsihed high school? Started reporting on the radio when he ws just nine years old. You know he was a good guy when all the other anchors praised him. He was asked not too long ago how he wanted to be remebered. His reply "A good father". He was first a family man, then a jounalist. He be mised.Carl
