I eventually want to mount them directly behind my seat. This will have to wait a little though :) .

great amps, what do you have the gains at for the RL-i?

seems like more than enough power for 2 let alone one

I adjust my gains the typical way. I then add just a little more gain, this is for the music where the bass is very low (an example would be classic rock). I then turn my remote level controller down for typical music, and when I listen to the older stuff with less bass, I just turn the RLC up. My RL-i is a single 4ohm VC version. They only carry the DVC's now. I will be upgrading to a 4ohm DVC RL-p12 in the near future. My amp is putting out 597 watts RMS at 12.5V, so the sub is seeing around 300 watts right now (I think this is all the power this sub needs to sound good, eventhough it can handle more). At 300 watts the little sub sure moves alot, it is pretty impressive to see how much throw this thing has. The RL-p12 will be seeing all the juice that the 801D can through at it :).

maybe so - but it takes loyalists and alienates them. it may bring in new blood, but it pisses off the regulars.

Why? I dont understand why somebody would get pissed off because MTX decided to make a big **** sub?

Their current line up of equipment is still excellet quality stuff. Its not like theyre all of a sudden making crap.

I know Mike did some testing with about 3k watts on a pair of RL-i 10's and apparently the new RL-i 8s are going to be a upgrade from the original ones which could take 500+ no sweat,

oh yeah he is still working on the upcomming RL-s LMT sub, you should stop by the SoundSPlinter forum

I will take a peek over there :).

I sure would like to hear the new 8's. My sister's boyfriend really likes his, it is one of the original ones that came out. I am still impressed at how nice that little tank sounds.
